So i decided to use my boost to level 50 and make a new shadow priest. Im doing the Legion artifact quest right now and seems like mobs atr my current location are about level 46.
Few things id like to ask.
-I expected to see mobs at lmy level like in proper scaling game like in ESO. Is there no Scaling after level 50?
-Am i supposed to one shot everything?
-Is there some option which i need to turn on or off? I hear about Chromie time but as i understand it, it ewnds at level 50.
Its just that… Im quickly getting bored with the character as one shotting everything i come upon is not very engaging gameplay. Its extremely boring. I allready changed to heirlooms from boost gear as they seemed to have weaker stats, but im still feeling overpowered… Way overpowered. Id really like to play like i play in GW2 where i can always get a some sort of challenge even from some of the vanilla areas and like in ESO, where i begin to feel like enemies are getting more tough as i progress, not much but still a bit.
I dont want to one shot everything in old content.
You should go to Orgrimmar and speak with Chromie to set your timeline to Legion.
However, Once you reach level 48 the Shadowlands questline is pushed in to your quest log and this disables the ability to use Chromie time and its associated mob scaling.
From level 50 on ward you will need to level up in Shadowlands. Hope this helps
It helps, at least as much anyone can help ioutside of game developers at this state though
The whole scaling system seems like overly complicated unless you are in Chromie time and even then, you seem to be screwed up completely after you reach level 50.
I mean if im supposed to level on Shadowlands at level 50 onwards and chromie time is not for level 50, then every character over levr 49 in my character repertuare is useless after level 49 since i mostly play in older content and dont want to get overpowered
I mean why cant they just make a proper scaling for the whole game, like a chromie time which is on if you choose aas long as you choose so you can always get proper opposition from enemies if you want and for those who dont want it, could just turn it off -.-
Personally I can’t stand leveling through SL. That’s why I’m waiting for the prepatch, as we’ll have chromie time up until 60.
That said, Blizzard wants you to play the “current” expansion, and thus disabling chromie time at that point. That doesn’t mean much right now because the xpac is near its end, but when it was implemented it made sense (I guess, was not playing then).
Especially since you had to do SL content anyways when you hit level cap
If you enjoy playing the older content whilst still feeling the effects of mob scaling there are two NPC’s which can eliminate experience gains and allow you to still make use of Chromie Time and its associated scaling. One for Horde, and one for Alliance.
For Horde characters:
Go to Hall of the Brave, Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar
Look for and talk to Slahtz (He is an Undead stealthed on the top floor of Hall of the Brave)
Pay 10g for him to remove your ability to gain experience.
For Alliance characters:
Go to the War Room, Stormwind Keep in Stormwind City
Look for and talk to Behsten (He is a human who is also stealthed)
Pay 10g for him to remove your ability to gain experience.
Keep in mind that this is a system that only works per individual character, so you will have to repeat the steps for each alt you have.
You will want to talk to the same respective NPC to start gaining XP again if you change your mind.
It is advisable to level to 49 and then visit the NPC associated with your faction to eliminate XP if you wish to continue exploring older content with mob scaling implemented.
Yeah… Im finding myself in place where i somewhat regret purchasing Dragonflight, but theres no choice since i wanted the physical collectors stuff as always. Its just that i end up with boost i will not use and in current scaling, i will lock xp to point where i can still remain in the Chromie time.
I mean when i play ESO, There no “End game” for me anymore and theres just areas and routes of which i level thgrough differently with each character. Each has their own story and each does stuff everywhere. I buy expansions for nerw stuff they bring and new areas to explore. Rgheres still lots of stories i have not played through and i gladly save them as i want to play where i enjoy, not where the game designer thinks i should play.
And still, for me it does not mean i play the “latest” area if the stuff stops scaling when i reach certyain level. It means like with this character, that i have planned to go through legion to Shadowlands to Dragonflight, but now i need to make a different character so that i can really enjoy Legion. The character i just boosted ends up gathering dust unless i do some RP event with her.
It also means, that i am less likely to buy a boost for any character. If ESO sold boosts to level cap, i would gladly buy them though, because that would mean i can get rid of the leveling process and get all the spells and stuff i want for that character right away. Same would work in WoW if scaling was the ESO style full content scaling.
Theres also the dilemma of transmog vs level scaling. I am kind of player who wants the character look like who they are from the start. As the current transmog has level requirements, i need to be certain level to use certain items. I need to be level 10 before i can use most what i want. I dont however use any new gear exept some Legion artifacts. Level boost gave me a way to make a new character look the right way be it Sin’dorei spellcaster or member of Apotrhecary society. But so, im stuck on the lates content if i wish for some opposition from enemies. Thankfully level 10 come very fast so this is not a big issue for me but its still a small addition to list of “Should be better”
I love lore of Warcraft and i also like every expansions stories and areas whatever i may think of each eras game mechanic choices so in that regard, WoW is for me, but i just need to stay my leveling at level 45 and stay with Chromie until Dragonflight comes in which time, i can enjoy Shadowlands. Its just trhat i seem to need to stay one expansion behind most other players with current scaling system
Dont get me wrong, i still also play those other games and when i want to be really frustrated and remember why these games are all so good, i play GTA Online
Thanks. I dont really consider anything “eng-game” personally. Regardless of stats or what content is whatever age, i do enjoy stories, lore and a tough enemy which gives challenge i can strive to overcome.
Boosts are only any good for end game or farming old content.
Start at level 1, enter any chromie time at level 10 and cap xp at 49. You don’t need to visit her again - everywhere will be scaled to your level and changing “timelines” just gives you the intro quest to that expansion.
When you are done, turn XP back on and badum ready for SL.
Of course in a couple months it will be cap at 59 and badum ready for DF but it is essentially the same thing. However nobody will want to do dungeons with you as for some weird reason if one player has the xp lock on, groups get no xp. For this reason I tend to do this when I am being insane and doing loremaster:
New starting isle
Chromie time
Cap at 47
Go out of chromie time when I finish an expansion and solo all dungeons and raids
Re-apply chromie time, rinse and repeat 4&5 until BFA because soloing those is still hard. But at that point you can put xp back on and do it normally bar the raids.
Hey thanks a lot. This answers the question that just popped in to my mind when visiting Chromie which was “Will i need to change timelines for areas” and thats a no
Also good to know is that people wont get XP when i lock my own XP. Odd way to make it that way but at least i know now, that i should avoid such content so that i would not hinder progress of others.
So in this, could just level to certain point and do other content for say, WOTLK" first and then turn off Chromie time to do the end r duyngeons and raid in correct order to experience stories in those. For me it has always been better to do them solo after that was pssible because then i can go my own speed and really see everything in my own time.
