Level Squish, what about old raids?

So, if i got ir right, with Shadowlands it doesnt matter what expansion content we level through, since it all will be essentially the same level. But what about old dungeons and raids? Right now, i can oneshot everything in a black temple run, yet might need a group for Antorus Mythic. Do we know anything about old Raids in the next expansion? Is a Black Temple Run going to be just as hard as, lets say, Daza Mythic, just bec. both will scale up to level 60? (or 50 or whatever)

I think they stated that you’ll be able to farm old raids just fine at level 60. I assume they’ll be scaled to 50.

What I’m interested in is if we’re going to see a booming community of level 50 players. I mean imagine, you got 7 expansions worth of content scaled to your level.

Good question. Also, again, makes me wonder if we will see a difference in difficulty in raids. After all, if a raid like AQ 40 is 50, just as Nyalotha will be 50, that kinda would impy you either cant solo AQ anymore, or you now can in fact solo Nyalotha, because it will scale to the same level as classic and bc raids.

I assume this will be the case. My understandment is that from now on all previous expansions are lumped into the 10-50 category. Shadowlands will be there too, when they release the next one. It would be very weird of Blizzard to put time and effort into making different difficulty categories or something when you can just lump them into one category and call it a day.

Omg this question again!. When you level in shadowlands you will be in chromie time and everything will scale. Once you hit level 50 you go back to normal time. All old content will then reduce by about 15 levels so you can solo it. This has already been explained.

I don’t trust them in any capacity in that regard. During the first item squish the scaling completely broke with mana wyrms in the blood elven starting zone oneshotting people.

Yea, I remember when they did the scaling in Legion. Redridge Mountains, Mount Hyjal and Shadowmoon Valley (Draenor) were pretty much impossible since some mobs were completely messed up.

I’m pretty certain that there will be several bugs, where the enemies are shown as level 50 but because of some spaghetti code the game will treat them as higher level (like 70 or 80 in BC and Wotlk) and as such they will oneshot you.

And how will this even work out during pre-patch? Will items like Shadowmourne suddenly become BiS again because of aforementioned spaghetti code?

Raids will still work on the legacy system as they do now. We only level (if you choose to go that route) via Chromey TW method doing one expansion. You have to come back out of that to enter the normal world.

This article includes some good information:-

Blizzard have already stated that the level squish will not affect you going back and farming old raids just as we do now.

Of course there will be bugs and problems when it first goes live, it would be unrealistic to expect anything else and no doubt the forums will fill up with ‘I quit’ posts because of various reasons associated with mentioned bugs and issues.

Can’t they just add some kind of blanket god aura to use when we visit old raids? They already use demoralised debuffs on certain raids. That way they avoid fiddling around with math and problematic encounters.

At the moment it seems like end of an expansion gets you to a state to solo heroics in the previous expansion for the average player, anything including mythics prior to that. But there won’t be a “last two expansions” anymore, only a “last one” (BfA for Shadowlands, then Shadowlands for Zombie Gnome Apocalypse). So there will be this increasing pool of “Chromie” expansions which BfA will eventually drop into. For those raids we could get a kind of Bronze Dragonflight Buff or summat.
