Leveling a Hunter

Hey Guys i was wondering what’s the best class to level up my hunter ?

i Heared that BM pets cant tank and dont do any damage is it true? What about MM and survival leveling ?

MM will give most damage output but main ability cast time is 2.2 seconds, you will have to do most tanking yourself and general gameplay is slow
BM does less damage overall, pet can tank you will just have to keep an eye on it and use a ferocity pet that has leech
sv is almost the same pet can tank
what sort of lvling you want to do, casual game play does not really matter if you want to appear on dps metters go MM if can stand slow casting or sv for more mobile and engaged gameplay
actually i would recommend playing SV its mobile, can attack ranged with ascpect of the eagle, has a pet for tanking and has two cool abilities take down and boomstick that do a lot of damage

My advice? Try them all as you level and see which one fits you best.

You already play Warlock, which is a caster, MM is probably the most similar to that out of the 3 specs, due to the cast time on Aimed and Steady Shot.

If what worries you is the tanking ability of the pet, either BM or SV will have the same capacity I guess, make sure the Growl on the pet is on auto so that the pet will “spamm” it, you can also use the macro I use for Misdirection:

Misdirection:
#showtooltip Misdirection
/cast [@focus, help] [@pet, nodead, exists] Misdirection

What it does is, when you press it, it will cast on your pet without having to select it, unless you have someone in your Focus (which basicly is useful for instances, I put the tank in focus and Misdirection will go to him without me having to select him manually or with an hotkey).

I have a few more macros I use if you want more help to manage the pet, but for what you asked for that should help you keep the aggro on the pet. Plus as mentioned before, whichever pet you pick go to the stable and make it be Ferocity for the Leech, or maybe Tenacity to have passively extra HP and dmg reduction, and if you are really worried about how much dmg the pet can take, I’d recommend a pet with dodge or dmg reduction abilities. My main pet is a Cat, (which has dodge) and she can tank just fine.

Visit Petopia and go to the Talents and Skills tab, you can see which pet families have what types of abilities.

Hope my reply helps.
