Leveling as a warrior

What is the best for levelling a warrior, a 2 hander or a 1h and shield. On my shaman 1h and shield is much better.

I am sorry to disappoint you, but if will get far worse. I am at level 52 right now, and boy leveling is a real hell now. Same level mobs can mean death right now, if you have an unlucky streak with many misses etc you are in serious danger. But do not dispair, if you are able to go through it and reach 60 and get some eq, you will start to leave all the easy leveling classes behind
In my opinion leveling a warrior solo is the most challenging and rewarding thing in classic.

Just ask a mage in your city when you log to make some food for you and care when you pull.
It might be slow but you’re gonna kill it DPSing or Tanking at 60 in dungeons and raids.

Or you can reroll another class.

Sweeping strikes+cleave.

More than two? Retaliate+sweeping strikes+cleave.

Mage are always happy to make food for Warrior  .

And this is where I think Classic is flawed because the design aim was not having all classes be solo friendly. Now of course there are varying degrees of this and people have been able to make it work for them, but the clear intention was that outside of Warlocks and Hunters - you need to group with others to get the most out of your class, otherwise you’ll struggle.

Now while I don’t think this is inherently bad design it of itself, the problem (clearly) arises when you don’t have anyone to group with. This might not be such as issue now with so many people playing but it will start to be as the days and months go by and this is exacerbated by the questing system.

Yes, you can get lucky and group with people who happen to be on exactly the same part of the same quest chain as yourself, but this becomes increasingly less likely as time progresses. In order for this sort of design philosophy to work, you need to have people accessible at all times in the open world.

This was Blizzard being a bit short sighted with its long term outlook and something you could fix organically by having Classic adopt a dynamic quest and event system throughout every zone.

Not only would it alleviate the tedium of moving slowly between set, linear quest objectives but it would provide a more predictable, natural way to encounter people doing the same thing as you. Classic may have been a trend setter in its heyday but it’s fallen far behind the drag curve when compared to modern MMO design and people are going to run into these issues again and again if the mentality persists that this is a game you cannot touch due to rose tinted nostalgia.

There are some great fundamentals at play but they are marred by core game design issues that will start to rear their head as the months go by. When ‘fixing’ this the first time, Blizzard took the lazy route and gave Warriors things like Victory Rush which turned them into PVE wrecking balls in the open world, utterly trivialising mostly anything you’d run into. Moreover to fix the ‘accessible players’ issue they strayed into farcical territory with crossrealm grouping which you can see in BFA has resulted in world bosses being hilariously easy to beat. Now this sort of system could have worked with proper player/encounter scaling but (to my knowledge) they haven’t implemented this and if they have, it doesn’t work.

aren’t warriors rage the same in BFA? unless you are furry that is

Why would tauren warriors be different just because they are covered in hair?

Just L2P man. Warrior is one of the easiest classes to level. You can chainpull with next to zero downtime.

It truly will. I promise you that. Early levels are indeed a nightmare. Then you start having a choice for zones, pick some dungeon gear, craft some blues or get them from AH. Rage generation becomes sweet and you survive much longer. The difference for me is that I excel at tanking and level with 1h + shield. Yes, it takes a while to kill something but I have no troubles pulling groups of 2-3-4 mobs, depending on the level. I am capable of soloing elites as well.

Caster mobs will give you hell

Hello op i post with my old warrior from vanilla/BC/wolkt.
Warrior is the toughest class to level up.
You have to set macros, play carefully and up cooking and first aid.
Other players will ask you to tank on dungeons and some if them even told you how to tank , but they don’t have the guts to roll a tank themself.
I advice you to play another class for 2 weeks (mage/hunt) make some money and then play your warrior with this money, that s what i did. It will help you.
And don’t forget you are the tank on dungeons , you are in charge, don’t let an idiot DD decides what to do.
Look some warrior leveling guide on YouTube. Kargoz one for exemple

They do die slower than with 2h but Shield Bash helps alot and no need to waste extra 2 bags slot for equipment macros. After Pummel you deal with half of the issue but still, my choice… Perhaps ~40% of my play time is tanking in dungeons and 10% of the remaining 60 is world tanking so no troubles. I do intend to keep my Cyclonian 2h Axe though as after WW it makes sense to be versatile to different comps.

I enjoy a lot leveling as a warrior alone, You have to learn all of your skills/can use it to better improve your time in leveling. Dancing stance is beautiful and absolutely fun, it is surely considered one of the hardest class to lvl up and endure, same as pvp in early mid stage (mages and quick cc are just very abusive and op to play in pvp until endgame pvp), but his endgame is one of the best.

If you are prot tho… leveling can be a pain in the as.s alone, dung and party is your only bet.

With pummel castmobs are a joke who cant stand agaisnt your critics.

thx for tips. still dying every quest hahaha

What helps me the most is to have Spirit be one of the biggest stats to focus on, to reduce downtime between fights. Really works wonders as you’ll heal very quickly, negating the need to eat or bandage.

Like… I get you struggle, but isnt wand ranged attack? And i guess your melee autoattack as warrior should do more dmg, and as a bonus generate that said rage? It isnt like u cant aa without rage, it just makes things die faster, and u arent meant to kill every single mob with rage abilities only, during leveling, thers no such class… Maybe lock as he can mana tap and drain back but still…

As a warrior you will always have a spot at endgame though and as fights go on you don’t have to pop a potion, or drink after EVERY fight. Early game warrior is awful but later on its one of the top classes.

Unlike a bow or gun it does not have a minimum range. So you can wand when a melee is pounding you.

I have a priest macro that shields you and wands. Nothing else is needed unless you pull more than one.

Yea but he cries that while mage can waste his mana he can still wand, so can warr, when he waste his rage he can use his axe, which also gives him more rage to waste, but op stated it like “i have no rage i can only watch mob killing me” while in fact that white auto attack dmg is something that most classes see during leveling, even as shaman 80% of my dmg is autoatack…
