It’s usually the mediocre players that are screaming for 2. I’ve also had more bad experiences doing dungeon leveling than anything, which is why i quest only while leveling. Playing with friends or a community makes this so much better (:
WLK is and Cataclysm will be all about the endgame, with decade worth of mon maxing under player’s belts. SoD is also endgame focused mode.
Most levelling focused version of the game would probably be Classic Hardcore.
in retail the focus is too heavy towards the end game wile Wow is always been a lvling game why do you think so much ppl playing Classic.

Persoanlly I’d recommend to give GW2 a go. It’s honestly a fantastic game.
I uaually enjoy leveling in the old zones but as soon as I reach the most recent expansion I can’t anymore, it always feels endless (nowadays not much anymore, but I remember leveling in Cata pre-xp nerf was painful with that 1% xp increase per quest it had
