Leveling my first alt

Hello,

I finally got some spare time, want to change my daily routines and decided to create my first alt. Planning to start a druid, mostly because it’s most versatile class and I love nature conected classes with good lore.
My idea is to level it up, and have fun with it but mostly for transmog/mount purposes for now.
The question is in which expansion should I level it up? Since it’s mostly for cosmetics, should I go to Legion and start working on the class hall or I should avoid it until level 60 and then start that grind?
I unlocked almost all class hall appearances on shaman but not sure how many are account-wide.
Also, which expansion would you reccomend? I finished Legion, BFA, SL and half of WoD so far on my Shaman.

You will be more comfortable starting to work on Loremaster after reaching lvl 60 and with a little bit of gearing.

All of them account-wide, shaman only. Your other shamans can use it.

There is an achievement, called ‘‘The Loremaster’’. Follow that achievement and go back from new content to the old.

Do it with your Druid. It will be much easier.

If I start an alt its MoP just a fun zone but you can choose any xpac start do the instances, if any give more XP than others I wouldn’t know. All I do for ALTs is enchant gear give good start. Also if tmog collecting go with the one your looking to collect.

So the Loremaster achievement is account wide? If so, that I will probably go with some expansion that I didnt do yet like Cata or MoP. Wanted to work on 100 exalted reputations on my shaman so I didnt want to go in the new expansion so I don’t have to do same things twice

Which expansion has the best dungeons in your opinion?

And also, do you recommend to go to the Legion at 60 then? I really hoped that beside PvP rewards, some other achievement related appearances are account-wide :frowning:

You say cosmetics are important, so I’d suggest MoP for leveling. Each zone provides you with full “sets” and that includes weapons. The quests are also nicely clustered so getting through several at once is common. I wouldn’t recommend Legion for appearances since you don’t get any weapons apart from the class hall ones.

Yes. There are 10 sub Loremaster achievements right now. You should work single sub-Loremaster on single char. But Meta-Achievement is account-wide. That means you can work The Loremaster achievement on 10 different char at the same time.

100 Exalted Reputation achievement is also account-wide right now. For example, you can have 52 exalted reputations on your Shaman and 48 on your druid so it makes 100. The mounts you mentioned is also very connected with reputations. The majority of your mount collection will originate from exalted reputations.

I suppose you are asking this for quick leveling of your druid. If that’s true, start with BfA dungeons. Go both tank and healer. Don’t worry, you won’t lose anything if you lose aggro or it is not the end of the world if your tank dies. Once you feel comfortable with Guardian and Restoration Druid, your life will be much easier.

They are account-wide but class-bound. The things in Legion class halls should be much easier right now. You won’t repeat many things. But some achievements are class-specific, if you think you will play with a related class in the future, then do them.

On farming reputation, pay attention to the ‘‘Insane in the Membrane’’ achievement. Many people can’t get it on the first try.

Also, be careful on farming Oracles vs. Frenzy Heart’s reputation. First, get exalted with Frenzy Heart, then go Oracles, because Oracles (Gorloc) is selling Mysterious Egg, which hatches in 3 days and contains Green Proto-Drake. Oracles and Frenzy Heart are opposing factions, once you start to gain reputation on one, you will start to lose reputation quickly to hated on the other but it counts toward 100 reputation achievement once you reach exalted on one of them.

I would absolutely recommend Cataclysm for Druids and Shamans. It is also by far my favourite expansion. The best dungeons are the “classic” ones you get access to with chromie timewalking to Cataclysm. Note you can only start in the end zones (Hyjal etc) at level 30 but there is sooooo much lore from having revamped the world and that leads up to the high end zone storylines!!!

I would always recommend Legion for a class you’ve never levelled before. Druid also has so many cool forms you can get with the artifact appearances.

Well I would chose Legion or WoD. Maybe pandaria. I love the tillers LOL. When I play my druid I am rarely in normal form and never notice my xmog.

Personally, my go-to levelling expansion is Pandaria. It has wonderful landscapes and soundtracks, and some pretty decent storytelling with a balance of deep sincerity and comedic whimsy. If you don’t want to spend more time with Chen and Li Li, I despair for you. Questing is usually fairly linear and story based, such that you progress across a zone from the entry point, unlocking more quests and factions as you go. My advice here would be to freeze XP periodically such that you hit 50 somewhere in the last zone, because otherwise you’ll max out with half the expansion untouched.

That said… if you don’t like the Pandaren aesthetic, then Legion cosmetics are arguably the pinnacle. I feel like that expansion brought most of the best transmogs, and the devs don’t seem very inclined to change that any time soon. (See absence of a new werebear for the masses. No I don’t count Magetower as for the masses.)

Then again… I think Pandaria questing slightly surpasses Legion questing. No, it doesn’t have class halls, but it is fun. I find I do get invested with the townsfolk and their problems in ways that do not happen in other expansions. Somehow they feel less… throwaway. Meanwhile transmog collecting is something you’ll do at 60, zooming round old dungeons and raids, not something to really consider when levelling.

So my final advice is level in Pandaria, on the understanding that levelling doesn’t really give you any good transmogs. At 60, you’re free to go back to any dungeon or raid from the past and farm it week after week for the set of your choice!

Thank you for all these explanations and suggestions. I appreciate your help a lot. Since I didn’t do Pandaria yet and I would like to explore new storylines I will start there and see how it goes. Seems like there’s many great looking zones with chill vibes which is always good after long days at work. And later on I will do on my bear and kitty forms in Legion, and class mount as well.

Once again, thanks a lot! All these info were very helpful.

WOTLK is usually always hailed as the very best expansion in the game, seeing as it has been all downhill from there. The slope of the downhill has not always been steep.

Off topic, as of 9.2.5, I finished what made me interested in logging into the game in the first hour or so with the dark ranger’s attire, then I just logged off. While in WOTLK I would stay logged in for hours on end. Maybe I just got old.
