Leveling up a new toon

how long does it normaly take everyone to level up to max level do you like to rush it or take your time?

I think it comes down to personal preferences. I will say though, that taking your time means TAKING your time. If you like… I dunno, wanna quest it all before you proceed. I can tell that It took me 4-5 days /played just to quest all of Kalimdor as ā€œcurrent contentā€ with xp locked.
You can get to endgame on less /played than that.

The way is so long to 120, that I personally just level as fast as I can, and if I wanna repgrind or do quests, then I go back and do them on my endgame char.

^ What Ayana said

I like to take my time, like really take my time

It can take me a week to play through a zone, because I lvl professions at the same time… Go to any event blizz has put up in game and sometimes I just stand in a nearby city chatting and dancing with people

Give a year to lvl to max lvl :+1:

I don’t remember the last time I got to max level
Every time I roll an alt I get bored and give up before getting there
My poor void elf is still stuck in northrend

Couple of months most of the time.
I play one a bit for a few weeks. Then another. When I reach legion they get all dusty because I can’t be bothered doing legion quests (I forget to login and do the invasions aswell )

I hate levelling with the changes so I tend to dungeon spam until I can’t bear it any more.

i feel you… my Idwarf is in wod, HTauren in the plaguelands, Void elf in northrend…

My last 2 toons took 45 & 35 hours /played from 20 to 120. Questing and dungeons in the mix - but the one with less dungeons (above 70) was faster through questingrush (arcane mage).

That’s really fast, Howdy.

Think it used to be around 8 days /played in WOTLK? Pre heirlooms and all that ofc.

iv never leveled up from 1 - 120 lol my first 120 toon was boosted when i bought legion. so now i unlocked the kul tiran im doingmy first toon without boosting  trying to figure out if i should quest or do dungeons or both

Mix of dungeons and quests is best for me, game often puts you in dungeons where you haven’t been so you have few cool quests in addition to completion bonus. Buy Elemental Force enchant for your heirloom weapon, you will notice cool dmg boost  faster killing/faster questing/more xp in the same timeframe.

Do yourself a favor and mix em.
Or your brain begins to melt through tunnelvisioning.

If you have been playing for more then 5 years and have 3 level 120s… you should be able to start from level 100 -> 120.
dont need to level from level 1. you already know the game etc.

that is my idea.

Takes me a couple of weeks casual these days. The only issue is the item level requirement to get into Legion and BfA dungeons. Just slowed me down a bit as I was forced to quest, which is a drag. Just do the starter to 15 and then just queue for dungeons. Takes no time at all… well except for queue times. That really is all that took the time as I don’t really quest anymore.

I did do some BfA questing just to get the friendly with the three factions, but that was about it. Its actually quite funny cus I was over level 80 and still doing quests in Ghostlands.

By the way if you buy a Tabard for each of your base factions you will get to exalted in all of them in no time by doing dungeons. Saves a bit on mounts and stuff plus buy the bags from the quartermasters. Also cus you don’t need to fly in dungeons don’t bother buying your flying trainer as you get it free at 71 anyway.

SHould be 80 in three days tops and then like I say only slows down cus of the annoying queue times for Pandaria and WoD. Legion can be a problem and they are dreadful dungeons so try to time with the Timewalking and fly through. Gearing up with Timewalking also is great and one guy was saying he zonked 10 levels in 55 minutes last night using Timewalking.

Little known trick but if you have the tamers and know battle pets if you do a daily fly through of all the tamers up to Shattrath say you will get half a level and can watch YouTube videos while you fly between masters and queue for dungeons. The dungeon will still pop if you are in a pet battle… plus always do your fishing and cooking daily cus they add two bar and are so easy to do. All helps topping up the levels and makes it ever so quicker.

Me I avoid questing… man is that a drag these days. Specially Legion [ boring ]

Give or take 2 weeks.

leveling a MW monk atm ( i also quest in MW spec ) im around 11 hours /played and i am lvl 70 now so id say around 35 hours to hit max ?

I have the attention span of a peanut so it take me ages to level.

I get distracted by every herb and ore node, every battle pet (it might be a blue one after all), and often revisit places that have been important to me over the many years I’ve been playing WoW. I’m working towards the Loremaster achievements as I go (or don’t go as is most often the case) since I never did get them for the old world continents and I’m quite content taking my sweet time.

Definitely a take-my-timer.

My ā€˜new’ priest has been getting about 1-2 hours per evening. It took about 3 weeks to go from 1-60, because I was noodling around questing and following zone stories and levelling engineering and getting distracted by other stuff. Think I actually stayed on Azeroth until 63 because I wanted to finish the Rhea’s Last Egg chain. Gosh that last fight is awful.

Anyway, despising Outland and having memorised literally everything about WotLK, I jumped into dungeon healing 63-80, which flashed past in a weekend - for which I am grateful indeed. I tried to make 80-90 last longer because I enjoy Pandaria, but I couldn’t even finish a single zone without gaining those 10 levels :fearful:

So I have been XP locked for the past 2 weeks, during which I have hit exalted with the Tillers and Order of the Cloud Serpent. Undecided on whether to go for the Shado-Pan next, or leave that for a different alt, since I have several at 85.

Total time to 90: 5 weeks
Actual time ā€˜levelling’: probably 30-40 hours so far

From here I may rush it. I don’t care for Draenor and will dungeon-heal all of that if I can. Legion… I didn’t play originally so maybe I will give it a shot. But I’m not a fan of demons and spaceships, so it may also get skipped as much as possible. Probably start it, try out the most aesthetic zone and see how it goes.

(All this with a level 100 boost still available since Legion. I figure I will use it for a rogue, since dps classes have by far the worst dungeon queues, and I already have a mage at 85 and a hunter at 113.)

Questing and dungeon mix is great, questing might actually be a bit faster now. But let me tell you that doing random BG’s is also SUPER nice and fast XP, especially now when twinks has been removed again :stuck_out_tongue:

Just did one this week, which was at 49. Dinged today.
I play quite a lot, but dont like boosting or rushing. Then again, i do do things that grant quite a bit of xp.

I took about 10 lvls a day, so it was a week i guess. Maybe 5 hours a day, so 35 hours from 49 > 120.
The bit from 0 to 49 would prolly take me 2 days. > 10 hours

So lets say 50 hours total, including 1 profession levelling as a dps.
Tank or healer will be faster, since i do mostly dgs lvling.
Thats unboosted, not in a hurry, yet with full looms and going for the best xp.

Edit: I decided to not read the comments before i answered. I just did and my 50 hours seems in line with what other ppl say.

Ill be a tad more specific what i did:
Solely dungeons from 49 to 68, with the rare cooking quest or fishing, while i had to wait for que.
At 68 i could choose BC or LK (dont know why this isnt mixed, to limit que time…). I cant get used to the scaling stuff, so decided BC till 70, then LK. Still all dgs.
I could then choose Cata or Panda. I dont like the Panda dgs, so went Cata, even though they are harder. At 85, i went Panda. (yup, cant get used to it).
At 90 i stopped dgs.
Went to draenor start quest serie, which gives an awfull lot of xp (dont tell anyone!), took 2 lvls in 40 mins and was in my garrison. Wasted a bit of time there, bc you go through Draenor in less than a day:
Went to pick up treasures (ok, i have a lot memorized, bc i have a lot of top lvl chars that did that), which grant a lot of XP. And a big portion, wherever i roam, do the bonusses.
Same say im done with Draenor and start Legion.
Dont do Legion dgs either. Find out what time invasions are and do all. Takes you 30 mins and grants you 1.5 lvl
Do all the bonusses. Next day, invasion again and more bonusses. Also rares.
And then u r at bfa.
I then do tws if possible (grants more xp than bfa dgs, although it seems its nerfed now, but still better than bfa dgs), prof quests, harvest, the boat stuff/quests and whatever else i come across.

err, you have to be able to fly in Draenor and Legion ofc.
