Goodness gracious, i thought that feral was supposed to be a fast class since you are literally a cat, seems like i was wrong, it’s the slowest most boring trash ever.
Do yourself a favor and do not even attempt to level up with this class, go balance, way better spec.
Ps: it’s been like this for a long time, feral is on the slower side for some reasons, even though it makes no sense at all. It’s the slowest spec in the game. Even assassination is faster.
And personally i firmly believe that specs should have as little downtime as possible. It’s just boring to wait for abilities to be usable, because you have no resources or they are on cd.

Then don’t play feral, we like it. It’s fine at max level, but you’re right, leveling as feral is an indescribable pain.

Not because of downtime at max level, I’m very happy you’re not in charge, because specs like survival and ret makes me want to die because I can never get off all my damage and always lose out on some.

It’s still a terribly boring spec.
Trying to justify a spec where you spend a third to half of the time doing absolutely nothing as anything other than awful, is ridiculous, so frankly i don’t really care what you have to say, the moment you made this comment i lost interest about what you have to say about this spec.
It’s a terrible spec, super slow, and it makes 0 sense, considering the fact that you are a cat.
Oh i can multidot get away an not lose too much damage, wohoo… What a great tradeoff. Like there aren’t other specs who can do just that, but are way more fun.
I didn’t mind it too much, but Lazerchicken is better for levelling. Feral’s pretty fun in PvP with a lot of buttons to press, I think a lot of the downtime you’re experiencing is to do with these buttons. There just is no reason to use some of the kit in the open world.

It is far worse when you level than it is at max level.
Also, diversity is a good thing between specs, it captures multiple people. If all specs were global-capped I wouldn’t play the game, it makes me uncomfortable.

Not really, even at max level the downtime is between 1 third to half of the time, if you take savage roar.
Lemme ask you something, do you have carpal tunnel? Or some kind of hand problems? Because i can’t fathom another reason why you would like this spec. Other than, this is the only spec you can play.
If that’s the case, that’s a shame, but it doesn’t change the fact that feral is boring af. And i would still support having no class with high downtime. Because from a gameplay prospective it’s bad.
Variance is not necessarily good if what you are doing is not fun, it’s like saying eating different kinds of food is healthy, therefore you should eat garbage, yea, eating different types of food is good, but not all. The same applies to feral. The downtime is so high that it makes the spec unenjoyable, generally if the downtime is higher than 1/4 of the time, it’s not good. And feral is like 1/3 to almost 1/2. Which is crazy.

You don’t play Savage Roar, SR is objectively worse than the other option (singular). This is a flaw with SR.
No, I don’t have carpal tunnel or any issues with my hands. I also play warlock and used to play DK and elemental. I will tell you what I do have though, I have compulsive thoughts and not being able to completely fulfill my rotation bothers me a great deal. Also, the downtime is nice in arena where you then have time to use globals for other things such as heals, roots, bear form shenanigans and cycloning people.
Some people like it and it is there for them, you should play some spastic spec like you enjoy and let people who don’t enjoy that play feral.
This makes no sense. Sure, unfun things are not good, but the purpose of variance is to offer different things so that people with different tastes can all have fun.
The question is whether or not feral should be the way it is. You would say no, but your argument seems to be solely that you don’t find it fun, which is not enough, since others do enjoy it. There are plenty of flaws with the spec, downtime could be one of them, maybe it is too much, maybe it is not.
It definitely is too much, if you spend 1/3 to 1/2 of the time not doing anything it’s already a pretty fatal design flaw.
Could say the same to you though, your argument is also i like it this way, what reason is there other than that to conclude than feral should be this way? Variance? Well, if you look at it, how does it make sense that a cat has such a slow rotation when cats are generally known to be quick and agile.
The argument can be made both ways, we are arguing from subjective tastes. But i can definitely say that from an objective point of view, feral having such a slow rotation does not make a lot of sense. And in general the talk i have heard, from people who play this game, generally prefer balance, i wonder why that could be the case, for one it’s ranged, which has some advantages, but second it’s way more fun, on average.
There is a way to satisfy both the playstiles though, but it requires some work from blizzard, and it’s a bit too long of a discussion to have here, but very briefly, talents could help. It’s not just that though.
I’m Below average feral druid, but in my case i like feral at low lvls. I have this toon and an alt feral druid that i play venthyr. In my opinion You need to master how You use the energy because You can’t spam. I think the huge probleme is energy regen… At least many people believe this.
You need to manage your resources in basically any class, feral is just slower, and the impact of a mistake is generally bigger because of the fact that it’ slower, you have to wait more time to recover from a mistake, but it’s not even close to how it used to be for legion feral in the beginning, and guess what feral at the beginning of legion was not fun.
The point is that it’s boring af. Doesn’t matter if it’s more punishing, punishing does not mean fun.
thats your personal oppinion , just like my oppinion is that dh is the easiest class to play has the easiest rotation ingame less buttons than ret and ww monk which makes it boring af for me . Yes feral needs help when it comes to utility and some tweaks on bleeds and energy regen fix with berserk cd being reduced from 3min to 2m or 1.5 min . buff aoe and feral is fixed , feral is about pooling your energy if you PvE in PvP maintain bleeds and bite with 50% energy for 100% more damage simple . in PvE feral needs buffs and fixes but in pvp its insanely good with affinities and cc you can do , pressure with bleeds with necrolord conveant . but yeah feral is in a bad spot in PvE and it should get looked into , feral is not rewarding to play in pve at all i used to be top 48 feral World in BFA in m+ but after they changed blood talons instead of using regrowth to proc it and to impower all my abilites it only empowers rip and bite now + you need to press 3 diff globals to proc it , its horrible in pve

How many buttons you press is irrelevant, what matters is how they feel and how they interact with each other. Can it be improved? That’s for sure, like every class honestly, some more than others.
Anyway, i played/tried all dps classes, and feral is pretty much at the bottom. In terms of actual fun.
It’s way too slow to be enjoyable.
Just came back to feral after a long time not playing it as it felt broken. Can honestly say I am actually enjoying it atm. My only issue is that the mobs at Elder Stand, seem to see through stealth even though they have no buff to indicate that they do!
Feral is great fun in PvP, but other than that, it suffers from horrible downtime (expensive attacks and bad energy regen) as well as terrible AoE damage.

Feral is extremely dull while leveling, but at max level I find it extremely fun to play, both in PvP and PvE.
Sure, energy management can feel slow at times, but in my experience it only feels “bad to play” if you are used to other classes that has a spell to press every GCD.
You can do a lot to counter the “energy down time”, and like I usually like to tell people… “Feral is a spec that require you have an interest in setting up a proper build in regards to stats, talents and borrowed power. Don’t expect for it to play well until then”. Hence, why it also feels terrible while leveling.
I really enjoy how feral currently plays

I fully agree
Not that there are not a lot of issues that would need fixing, but the general way Feral plays is, imo, very enjoyable and the reason I keep coming back to it. I sincerely hope they never turn Feral into a GCD-locked spec, there are plenty of those already.

Where do you get the idea that cats are fast? You must have never watched a cat hunt, never watched a cat play with its prey.
Cats take their time. They wait, they watch, they shift position, settle weight onto their hind legs just so… then they pounce. Once they have their prey, they pat it a little, knock it side to side, sit back and watch as it tries to crawl away, knock it over, let it get some distance… then pounce again.
To me, playing feral feels exactly like watching a cat hunt.

Sure and when they do attack they are pretty damn fast.
I don’t know what kind of cat you saw, but we are probably living on different planets. If you say that, to you the playstyle of feral reminds you of a cat in action.
The waiting part is something that almost any predator does, you could consider that as the prowl ability.
