Has it always been this rewarding to do battle pets?
I just started doing battle pets in bfa, so I started to participate in the pet battle week etc.
Lately I’ve been leveling characters again because of the herritage armor, so I thought I’d do some battle pets in between quest.
I just started doing it now in pandaland on my warrior alt, and I relealised how much XP I got by winning a 30-60 seconds battle pet match.
I gained 15k… 15k for a random pet battle here in pandaland, while a quest give me 20k. A quest can take up to 10 minutes, while a battle pet match is rarely over 1 minute.
After that I found a spot where there was so much pets, that I never had to look twice to find someone to fight, the xp started rolling.
I’m writing this post incase you don’t know about this. Because you are loosing out on ALOT of xp.
Pet XP is about comparable to quest XP across most levels. Don’t forget that when questing you also get kill XP. Pet XP gets better at higher levels, largely because Blizzard have done absolutely bizarre things to kill XP in the recent expansion areas.
Frostfire Ridge is the place to go at higher levels if you just want character XP. Blow away the Icespines. If you run RLH + Familiar, you can carry a lowbie for pet XP as well, but that will slow you down.
I often use pets to get the last couple bars for a level when I’m feeling tired. More than that, though, makes my brains dribble out of my ears, and my dry cleaners have said they are NOT accepting shirts with those stains again!
That affects only pet XP, not character XP. But it does mean that more people are doing pet battes to level them, so can get the character XP as a bonus.
I leveled with my di dwarf from 20-70 by pet battles. Went fast.Trained all the pets that i wanted to train and many more. After that i got sooo bored, and the leveling pace dropped, so i started questing again.
OK… tip. Do the tamers of your respective kingdom either Kalimdor or Eastern Kingdoms. You can fly to each using the flight paths in game generally and so watch videos and do your mail while waiting to get there. Should get over half a level doing that. Mix it up with a bit of arch which basically gives you a considerable XP boost just check the dig sites as you travel to tamers. Also do your fishing and cooking daily.
Then level 3 beasts , I like the baby apes from the cape cus of survivability and then find an area totally dominated by critters… rats, rabbits, squirrels and just one shot everything and joy in the XP makes sure though they are in the range of the pet so Level 23 plays 25s for quick kills. And you need an area to circle round and a five hours of epic music from YouTube.
Now… during the current event pick up your level 1s and feed them into the rotation and see how utterly silly it is levelling new pets to 25. Get three of each type for best results.
Battle pets do not eat away at your rested either it stays exactly the same.
I say play 25s cus you can get to zones where you are not troubled with pesky mobs all the time.
PS I levelled from 1 to 120 on one of my chars just doing Battle Pets and Arch. You can also do the Hellfire, Zanger, Nagrand, Shttrath shuffle . It pays to start knowing your respective teams to do the battles and always use them.
It is the easiest way to level cus you don’t need to do any quests or fight anything if you are lucky. Better with a mage cus of portals. I could tell you all the good spots to find pets but thats a secret. Best place was Arcane Eyes but they ruined the area cus of the dungeon. Arcanes are one of the few single pet high earners cus you only had to battle one for the same XP and they seriously were bonkers easy to down.
Its an art form and one worth having a play with if you are tired of levelling. But the pets have to be in the range of your pets to get the XP and it varies. Tamers give you guaranteed XP and the main one gives bandages which are very useful.
Arch also pays well and you get the rares including some very good pets.
The answer to your first question is Yes. That’s have been the case with pet battle player xp reward since legion if not before. Each pet battle reward you with 2% to 4% of your xp bar depending on equipped heirlooms. I do alot of pet battle on my alt lvling.
