Question…
(Sorry if it has already been answered, I’ve searched and couldn’t find it)
If I want to experience the levelling in all zones and complete every expansion at level
- Will the XP gains slow down so I gain it gradually through the expansions hitting 50 at the end of BFA OR
- Will I need to lock my XP at 50 at the end of Classic levelling and do all the other expansions at 50?
I enjoy end game immensly, however I also like to kick back and do some slow levelling and don’t generally level to Max as fast as possible. I just want to make sure that it will still be possible to do so without being made to play a single expansion only to Max.

You will go from 1-60 at about the same speed you go from 1-120 with winds of wisdom.
Think you’ll have to lock experience for the war campaign but you should be able to do all the 3 start zones of BFA.

You aren’t locked to an expansion, but the idea is it will just take one expansion to go from 10 - 50, so if you’re wanting to do the entirety of WOTLK and also the entirety of TBC then you’ll have to lock your EXP or honestly just make a new character. Might as well experience the story and level an alt at the same time.

Are you sure? Pretty sure they made it go quicker.
That draenor record was stated as faster than intended, and they stated that the current speed with winds would be about the same as in SL.
You can either level like you do in BFA with level ranges or talk to chromie and 10-50 in one single xpack. Afterward you can talk to chromie again to visit another xpack but you’ll be at max level and the world will stop scaling at 50.
I’d suggest doing each xpack on a different character tbh
From what I’ve understood of the details released so far it is going to be a normal levelling experince of:
Starting area (with tutorials) -> BFA -> Shadowlands.
This will have a coherent storyline that flows start to finish. This will level you 0 - Max.
But there is an option to do the other expansions (maybe this is limited to alts, not sure on details) where you can skip the starting zone and choose to do a different expansion to BFA.
This won’t have a single coherent story as you’ll be going straight from Deathwing stuff in Eastern Kingdoms to doing Shadowlands without the rest of the story.
You could do every expansion by locking your XP or whatever but frankly the story here is a mess as Outland and Northrend happen before Kalimdor or Eastern Kingdoms with the current questing.
I believe it will be slower than now, with Winds of Wisdom we have 100% more experience gains which means we level 100% faster, in Shadowlands it is introduced to offer up to 60% leveling speed, which means SL leveling will be 40% slower than now. (Level squish doesn’t matter here because it is measured as playtime from level 1 to max.)
In current Shadowlands alpha it takes 16 hours played time to go 1-60

Fair enough, I was just going off what I heard.

Not exactly as it does not scale with heirlooms and other xp buffs so it’s less than twice as fast as before the wind buff.
(By that I mean that rather than leveling at 150% speed with heirlooms we’re leveling at 250% with the wind buff, rather than the 300% you’re thinking about. The actual relative increase is even lower if you play monk or have xp buffs such as the xp gem or the DMF buff on top of the heirlooms)
And blizz confirmed that they plan to make leveling slightly faster than with the wind buff, but slower than it currently is on the alpha (Desmephisto which had multiple leveling speed records over the past few years managed to 1-50 or 10-50 in less than 4h on the alpha by going to draenor)
thats not how percentages work
100% more exp per quest = half of playtime is required, no rocket science.
i mean with regards to it being 40% slower that now
and I’m not explaining it. google it
also, it can actually be applied to rocket science…
You don’t like to use any argument as i can see here, you throw “no” and leave it as is, so i won’t bother either.
Both of these cover most aspects of the changes:-
You don’t have to use Chromie time to level but it does give you the option to just level through an expansion of your choice.
- Starter Zone New or Old until level 10
- Level through Chromie time from 10-50 in an expansion, or opt to jump back and forth wherever you want.
- Level 50-60 in Shadowlands
New accounts will be directed through the New Starter then Chromie levelling through Battle for Azeroth then off to Shadowlands as it gives them a better introduction to the game.
Levelling will be 60-70% faster than it was before we got the winds buff. It is currently super fast on Alpha for testing and they’ve already said it wont be like that when the game goes live.
Personally I think it’s nice to get one expansion story arc per character you level. Obviously some will prefer to go all over the place

Personally I plan to level and park one level 50 alt in each expansion for loremaster/explorer.

Not rocket science but you still failed.
+100% XP when you already levelup at +50% xp with heirlooms or similar buff means you levelup at 250% xp rather than 150%
250/150 = 1.6, you levelup 60% faster than without the buff.
Even explained why in my previous reply u_U
So? in Shadowlands exp will be up to 60%, so 100% base exp + 60% additional from SL + 50% from heirlooms = 210%, still 40% difference. O_o o-O -_- O_O
Source ?
The hell are you trying to prove ?
And that’s not how % works… 250% isn’t 40% higher than 210%, it’s 19% higher. (2.1 * (1+0.19) ) = 2.5
Won’t bother anymore tbh. Either Google it or accept that you don’t have any idea how basic maths works.
