I’m gonna start levelling a mage (this char is just a class trial) but I’m not sure which spec to go for.
Fire is my favourite but I hear it’s pretty bad at the moment, so what do you guys recommend? Level fire anyways or maybe one of the other two?
you won’t have any issues while you’re leveling so pick whatever you want but i’d recommend frost especially if you’re gonna level solo.
If you are asking for a spec to play while levelling, then Arcane is without a doubt one of the most OP specs in the game. 
Arcane Blast alone is the best AoE (while leveling)
It is not.
I levelled as fire; don’t really know how it would compare to the other specs but it felt fun, especially using the PvP talent Glass cannon. 
I lvled through Fire myself.
Frost is deff eassier to quest with at lvl 70 because how spammy the Ice Lance’s are compared getting the hotstreaks on Fire.
Yeah, I’m leveling up as Frost, but with the dmg output in dungeons, I’m going to switch it out to Arcane and play around with it to get a feel for the rotation.
I just hope we get some much needed buffage in the coming days.
If you ask in forums what spec to play my advice would be to play any different class tbh. Mage has very outdated and unfun gameplay design philosophies, and imo, atm it’s not worth playing to me, even if the pure dps numbers might be high. If you don’t want your whole group to play around your damage profile, I’d avoid it
