I have an issue regarding Shaman totems in PVP, more specifically, friendly Resto shamans Earthen Wall Totem. I genuinly cannot see the AoE makings (borders) no matter how I put my video settings / color blind mode.
Is there an existing addon / someone who can make on, which shows the “range” (round AOE area) of the earthen wall, in maybe an Opaque color which is different than the ground? (purple perhaps)
They changed the game back in the game to avoid having addons that are able to “project” textures into the game.
I am not aware if there is an option to make it easier to see, but I can say for sure that you will not be able to create an aura to see projected in game its range.
The best you can do is if there is a way to make an aura that shows IF that totem is down, what is your distance to it (so you can try to move farther than its range), but I cannot think of another way.
I had an issue a while back and was advised to make the following changes - it’s not perfect but it does make a difference. Maybe try this :
Options - Graphics - Graphics Quality
Set Particle Density to High or Ultra
Set Projected Textures to Enabled
Also check your Spell Density as most players set this to Essential so only see their own spells and their screens are not lit up like a xmas tree. You might want to play around with this setting though to find an option that works best for you.
I really wish Blizz would just provide an option for a clear outline around aoe effects. They are being very stubborn about it. People gunk up their screen with all kinds of addons. Blizz really don’t need to worry about preserving “immersion” at this point.
And it does make the game too easy, but at the same time I also think that Darkrayne is very much correct.
The game is so hard to read and play at this point that people are installing an insane amount of addons just to keep track of the state of combat. This is not sustainable, especially not in a game so fundamentally about immersion as this one.
Unless you have a literal disability, in which case, fair enough, it really isn’t that hard to see. If you’re playing with premade, ask them to ping totem when they place it. There are macros for this as well baked into totem.
Furthermore, I would argue it’s a skill issue on your end. Earthen wall totem is like the first button resto sham should be pressing when enemy uses cds on you which means that if you didn’t notice the totem, you most likely didn’t notice the enemy popping cds either, which is a much bigger issue. I would recommend using OmniBar and BigDebuff addons to help with this.
