Tooltips are flickering, mainly during combat. This is an unsolved bug for a long time now.
It seems, I can point my mouse to a clear area on my screen (no players or NPCs near my mouse) and suddenly, a tooltip with X or Y name in my group will pop up and flicker. Again, there are no raid frames, players or NPCs behind my mouse.
This is a harsh bug I’ve encountered, I’ve tried many different solutions without it success. I am simply using Leatrix Plus with the tooltip anchored to my mouse, no fancy tooltip addon.
Check the clip below, you can clearly see the tooltip flickering. This guy seems to be using TinyToolTip, however this also happens without any tooltip addon!
It looks like the flickering is due to the tooltip contents changing frequently. I have experienced this myself occasionally and it’s always been due to an addon misbehaving.
I’d suggest disabling addons and if it goes away enabling the addons one at a time (or in groups if you have a lot) until you find the offender.
This has been for 3-4 years in Classic. I can’t get rid of it. Tried resetting my UI and everything else. Note: I don’t use TinyToolTip, I use Leatrix Plus with the tooltip anchored to my mouse. This bug still happens when I disable all of my addons.
Further info, it seems from my endless experience with this bug, there is an invisible player/spell under my cursor when they shouldn’t be there. It also flickers with multiple players around me (as video shows) also, when for example a mage uses arcane explosion or a priest uses dispel, this causes tooltip flickering of the player who used the spell. My cursor can be anywhere on the screen.
This bug mostly happens: -When players are around me using spell/ability -In raids and BGs -Mostly in combat / or there is combat around me
