LFG Availability

Hello everyone.

I am not an avid forum user but I’m bearing on my wits end with Blizzard’s support.

I’ve returned to WoW after a very long hiatus, to try out the Season of Discovery. In the in betweens I’ve been doing the SL expansion (last one I own) as I never had fully done it before. I started a fresh character for this and all was well. I reached 60 around the second zone, queued for SL dungeons as needed and for time sinks at times, and continued up to the moment I chose my covenant.

Then my ADHD kicked in (I was made aware of the optional customization options available for NElves with some quests and got to it. One however illuded me, the black eyes quest was not showing at all for me. I read up in several places and somewhere here someone with similar issues stated that I could get the quest to trigger if I unlocked BFA (just the initial storyline). Als it did not work, so I just figured I’d go back to SL story and dungeoneering (still have one of those quests to do in dungeon). I couldn’t have been more wrong.
LFG tool/feature/system was (and is still) showing ONLY BFA dungeons in the random group finder. In premade, same thing.

I did what any sensible person would do, and requested support to CS. Again, could not be more wrong.

Several GMs and (so called) Tech Specialists took the ticket and kept on sending me on a myriad of troubleshooting steps that were totally inadequate or in context of the actual issue and report. Regardless, did it all, and issue persists.

Being somewhat experienced in tech and CS myself, I provided a possible work-around for the issue while still making the in-game report (as requested as it seems Blizz CS no longer has any internal process to report in-game bugs found during support sessions and/or tickets) for said bug. The work-around would be simple: rollback character up to the point that I chose the covenant (not before so I wouldn’t be accused of going on all this just to be able to easily change covenant bc I chose poorly). CS went on rounds and rounds, fully ignoring the suggestion and providing even more inadequate TS (they actually requested that I, the player, installed VPNs, connected on mobile hotspots, etc.). At some point tech gave up and sent me back to GMs where I sit waiting for someone to take hold of this issue.

On my own, I am levelling another character from ground zero using SL to try and replicate this (sth Blizz could do so on their own in 5m or less) bc I’m a masochist and like to get to the root of the problems.

What I would like from the community is to gather your feedback and possibly know if anyone else has noticed this curious purge of possibility of in-game content access.

so you reached level 60, unlocked bfa and then tried to go back to SL but couldn’t. i hope i understood this right. it can be about leaving shadowlands timewalking so if that happens you can’t queue for anything other than BFA dungeons (and timewalkings) because BFA is the base expansion. idk if it will work but have you tried chromie to go back to SL timewalking ?

Yeah sounds like the usual Timewalking confusion.
You need to go to Chromie and specifically select the other (not current) timelines to gain access to their dungeons.

Talk to Chromie. Since you probably can’t access the normal timewalking campaign menu, choose

  • “I have a question about Timewalking Campaigns.”
  • “What timeline should I choose?”
  • “I want to explore the afterlives.”
  • “Put me in the Shadowlands’ timeline.”

As long as you haven’t progressed beyond level 60 that should work.

Yes, almost. I can go back to quests in SL. No issue there, I just can’t queue for any dungeon that is not BFA (i even went to my old main - that did ALL expansions since wrath - and I can’t queue or even create a group finder for any other dungeon that is not BFA).

I can’t use chromie as character is 60 already.

My understanding of “Timewalking” is that of the events (like the current one) where you can queue to random older expansion content for some scaled old gear and some currency.

I explained how you can still do it

tried that. she only gave me options for dragonflight, which I do not own. trying the chronormi’s suggestion

Yes.

Thank you. I was actively getting to it, but I was replying to the other community members.

Thank you very much Chronormi. That completely put the LFG back into order. I’d give you a lot of cookies for this if I could.

But one things come to question then… why didn’t support just give me those steps from the get go!? I mean, they had screenshots from Chromie dialogue options, my quest journal, my lfg and backend access to my character’s history… and was given and absolute merry go round of absolute unhinged TS steps… I still remember a time where Blizz’s CS was actually good…

It’s ok, sugar is bad for my poor teeth, I don’t need it.

That requires support to have understanding of the game.

which in the past, they did… it’s just sad.
