Just imagine if AH was removed and all you have is a trade channel to sell / buy your stuff, what a mess that would be. Why don’t we have similar “AH” style for searching groups. Let’s say you register your interest with an npc in major cities mentioning your class, lvl , items, quests you want to complete etc. Would it be nice to have a neat table rather than a chaotic chat we have in a LFG channel. Obviously no auto invites / summons , all communications, group forming has to be done manually.
LFG wasn’t introduced until around Wrath. Since Classic is supposed to be a recreation of Vanilla it doesn’t have this feature.
Heck, the Meeting Stone isn’t even a Summoning Stone which came one expansion later even. The Meeting Stone doesn’t have the list feature that was present in the past though, it wasn’t as useful honestly since you can only see this while at the MS or at an Inn if I remember correctly.
Most of us in Classic use (chat) addons to seek players who would do the same dungeons.
It is not the Wrath LFG I ask, merely a chat organiser. Clearly it is not going to affect the authenticity of vanilla wow in anyway.
There are several like those at the Curseforge, a notable example is the LFG Group Bulletin Board or similar like a manual chat filter.
Let’s be real nobody uses this crap. Everyone uses world chat for that.
It filters out world chat for that.
I am aware of that addon and this is a part of a reason why I bring this topic up. It has to be integrated into the game. Players without it have a massive disadvantage.
If it is integrated then we’d better just bring in the version from TBC LFG into it, which doesn’t feature the auto summon to dungeon, auto partying/search but still has manual forming of parties and listing yourself.
I don’t think they’ll do this as the whole Classic Era has gone by without this TBC and Wrath versions.
i didnt knew about it until yesterday when i saw it on stream.
a integrated lfg would be nice but this addon does its job.
Just join lookingforgroup channel, i see 100s of people search for groups everyday.
Why? If individually you already have the option to use this addon, why try and force it on people who might not want it?
No. -1/10
Because players without it have a disadvantage, more players will be able to find group quicker, it is convenient to use. Moreover it won’t affect the gameplay. Pick the one you like.
Based on what metric?
Multi billion Oxford research came into conclusion that is a common cense to have a chat organiser
Incorrect.
In WotLK you got the lazy model with being ported directly to the instance, so people ended up standing AFK in Dalaran all day.
But OP asks for a LFG tool, and we had that already in the Vanilla days (no one used it though) where you could speak to the inn-keeper to join dungeons.
It got improved in TBC and was now usable - helped by the introduction of summoning stones. Now … I am not advocating for summoning stones in Era - I like the riding to the instances. True story
Already mentioned in the same quoted post. The OP’s LFG tool wasn’t introduced until TBC and the updated LFD with direct TP to dungeon was not until Wrath.
Translation: “I like it, therefor everyone else needs to be forced to use it, whether they want to or not.”
