With the new upgrade system you can boost items to the same level as one difficulty above the original item. With this comes the great side- effect that it also upgrades the item’s appearance.
This means it’s very easy for a heroic raider to get the mythic appearance, which is a good thing imo! Just do a few + 16 keys to get aspect crests. Way less difficult and tedious than mythic raiding.
The only thing that bugs me is how difficult it is to obtain the LFR tier set. My priest is close to 440 ilvl and has no chance to receive any tier token from LFR. I can only select the transmog option and the moment someone needs the item as an upgrade (every time) it trumps that.
I’m not saying I want to take away upgrades from people just because I need the mog, I just want an easier way to obtain those mogs. Say you upgrade/obtain your tier piece you also receive the mog from every lower difficulty.
Because now I have to make another priest alt and go into LFR if I want even a remote chance of getting the LFR set. And there’s not enough ‘veteran’ class gear to use in the catalyst for a full set.
Spamming Mythic+2/3 gives you a much better chance to get level-appropriate stuff. Nothing is worse than trying to get loot in LFR, the chances are soooooo low.
Also, the Icyveins guide claims you can use the world quest set to transform as well, which if true is nice, but I heard from the accidental early release of the catalyst that it only worked for the Suffusion Camp gear… so idk.
But I agree, it’s so stupid that LFR appearances are basically the hardest to get. Interestingly, Shadowlands Season 3/4 didn’t have this problem, as the Sandsworn set was specifically put into the game for this purpose, but there was no equivalent in DF Seasons 1, everything gave the normal appearance.
I’ve seen reports from the PTR that at minimum gear classed as ‘veteran’ can be used in the catalyst. Sad that kind of gear is a as rare as the LFR stuff.
It’s only the world items from the suffusion camp. So one item from killing the big dragon who spawns when the bar reaches 100, and one from looting the chest at the back of the camp. The items you get are random out of a pool of 20-22 items depending on spec. There are 1 of each set item in the pool except cloaks, which there are 4 of for some spiteful reason, 3 rings, and a weapon of each equippable type.
