No that’s totally fair, I wasn’t sure what quest we were talking about.
yep have to kill first boss for the quest to start, 5 times i have tried and gnarl has been killed so had to leave with a 30 min timeout. how is this a okay system lol least make every boss drop the starting quest item
I agree it’s not great. Definitely something they could do differently, esp in LFR where you bump into this situation regularly.
Did you try the solution Eliquís mentioned, going in on a difficulty you have no intention of clearing and checking whether Merithra is at the entrance? Or do you need something else? I just did the quest again and I’ve already forgotten the sequence lol, sorry.

Bugger, that sucks. I vaguely remember your odds improving to get a fresh run if you queue with more…? Because I’d be happy to queue up with you and a friend of mine if that does indeed increase the odds. Maybe someone else knows for sure?
I don’t think this is the case, to me it sounds like pure frustration of still needing to kill a certain boss and then only getting in progress runs wich killed it already.
Wich is very annoying since queueing for lfr sometimes can easily take 45 minutes as a dps
Unless this is a very recent change, this isnt true. I often have had multiple in progress runs in a row as well after i requeued instantly for the same tier
i think the best way round this is, remove the penalty for leaving a in progress raid join in lfr or make all the bosses drop the quest start item.
Hmm ok. I read it years back and it’s always been my experience that if I finished the wing and requeued, it would pop a fresh one so I figured it’s just the way it works. That sucks, that that is not the case. Man what a headache with a quest like this.
That is there for a reason though. As much as I sympathise that is not the solution.
This is true, if you finish and queue again you should get prio on fresh.
well 6th lfr and again its on igira. only 3 hours timeout now and counting…

I don’t understand why blizzard and other games don’t have some option you can mark so you get a fresh run/game only.
It seems like such simple option to add wich saves so much frustration of being in queue for like 30-45 minutes just so you have to requeue again for the same tier
Because everyone will use that option, and when some people leave that run is over since nobody will join an unfinished raid.
Sadly then runs would never refill. They tried letting people decline runs in progress in MoP. You ended up with unfinishable wings.
‘Should get’ has worked 95% of the time for me if I’ve needed all of a wing and had to requeue. The next time I get fresh to cover the ones I’m missing.

Have you considered just joining a normal run?
Well it aint that much better now with the endless stream of leavers and having to wait for ages to find a new tank or healers. I have had plenty of times where lfr groups also were a dead end because people left and nobody joined.And the few that did join also left because they didnt want to do a run that is at the last boss already.
So no real difference in letting people decline in progress ones. And they always could put some reward bag on there for anyone who joins an in progress raid. Like the healer and tank roles sometimes get for queueing up. Just hand them out to anyone who finishes a raid they joined half way trough.
The free gold and augment runes might make it worth for people to finish an in progress one
