so 3 times iv queued for LFR first wing, to start the helm enchant quest chain from gnarlroot and hes already dead when i join. if i kill igira il lose some of the quest items this week and if i leave i have a 30 min timeout…

Yep lfr always has tons of leavers. And you might have to requeue many times to get a fresh run.
If i get a half done run, sometimes i just either leave instantly or afk. Afking is the best choice tho because if you leave you will get the leavers debuff/
I absolutely hate joining games in progress in any game. Same with overwatch. If i only get in progress games there is no reason for me to try. I join to have a fun game with a proper match/raid , not to clean up other peoples messes and being forced to queue for a long time again in the hope of getting a proper group

You can try putting your character on follow on someone or atleast walk to the boss area and get tag it to get your loot.
But yeah blizz games really should have an option players can pick wich says “For the love of god, please do not put me into a in progress instance for the 100th time”
If you complete a wing that you entered when a boss was already dead, you get priority for a fresh run when you queue for the wing again.
If you leave and eat the deserter debuff, you don’t get priority and may end up in the same situation again.

He needs to kill the bosses in the correct order for the quest, hence he doesn’t want to kill Igra first, the way I understand it.
I don’t think you do, it’ll just get ticked off per boss I think…? Could be wrong tho!

Yeah that one it seems. So the order is unimportant, you’ll get loot once per boss no matter the sequence, and if you get into a half done group and requeue, you should get a fresh group Mistary

Initially all the wings weren’t even out when we started the quest line. So alts have done them in a strange order 
It does sound like an outdated concept, but never done the quest, so would not know.
The quest has a 50 currency thing in there which drops per boss. So the OP wants to get the quest first before killing other bosses. Which means he needs to kill the 1st boss of the 1st wing first and then get the quest.
You’re so smart, that must be it. I completely overlooked that, and yep that is a pain in the butt with people being impatient.
On my recent alt I simply accepted I’d get the quest after killing a few of the bosses I needed, as I knew it’d still only take two lockouts to be done with it and at least I could get the quest in peace lol. But yep, it’s a bit frustrating from that angle.
Or you could just go to the raid and enter it in normal pick up the quest then que for LFR.
You need to kill the first boss though

It’s always been that way unfortunately, that’s the boon and curse of a group finder tool that is used to search for the 1st available spot to put you in.
The flip side of course being that once 2 or 3 people leave, the raid automatically kicks everyone out regardless of their progress on that wing. Then you’d never see the wing fully completed.
And if you’re trying to get the head enchant it doesn’t matter what order you kill the bosses in, you just need to loot the dead boss for the quest item.

I did it on several characters and I had no idea what the hell it was.
I just wanted to do the LFR and collect the rewards.
I had 0 idea on the helmet quest and I only started realizing, what the hell, I was doing, with those ! and ? quests marks, when I read the description of the item reward, that popped on my bag on one of my characters, I was running the LFR with.
My character, started going on a strange animation and I asked myself: “What is that ?? 
”
That was when the aha moment came
