Problem: some players come and intentionally die to afk and get loot. I play a lot of LFR and like to meet new people there and do the raids when i have the time.
Suggestion:
Could it be an idea to raid the Good luck roll on items for those who stays alive the entire fight? That might make an incentive to stay alive and not go die on purpose and leech on all other players time to get loot

splendid idea, but it is not always so easy to find them.
Even though that players who stays alive have higher chance of getting loot they can still trade it to other if they do not need. But it gives an little incentive to try stay alive and use your abilities
Really? Rhis week ive done lfr with 4 chars and the ppl died (excluding me) were in total 5.
Ye,i saw one staying at the stairs at Rygelon when we pulled and it was only one step to be inside before it closed.Bad luck, coincedence dunno. But it seemed intentional.I can’t think of a solution to those leechers except vote-kick then again you can’t be 100% certain.Whoever does it for a 265 item or to skip the fight must be the lowest of the lowest ever.
This is a genius idea! I hate those people that die to afk and no one bothering to deal with them
I understand your reasoning but that would affect people who do mechanics correctly but dies because nobody else did, like group soaking where people just run away from you.
And it would make people more reluctant to do these mechanics if there is a risk of dying and have less chance for loot as a result.
I have sacrificed myself several times to save the fight.
If that means I have less chance of loot then I rather have the raid wipe and try again after explaining tactics but then there would be extra pulls and more time and I play LFR because I don’t have much time.

That is true if you do this, but i beleive that such an mechanism overall could help. I was not thinking that players alive were guaranteed loot. A combination could also be activity, which i believe also can be measurred on addon details.
There will always be loosers when a decesion is taken i still find it positive to implement such good luck loot rule. It is not like dying players will not receice anything, they just dont get the good luck buff. I also imagine that based on this maybe 10 - 12 items per boss can drop in lfr.
I would rather like this to see someone dying on purpose and ruin the feeling for others.
I understand that it sucks when people ruin the experience for others, but that is what the kick function is for.
I believe this change won’t fix anything but rather trade one problem for another.
Not getting the “good luck loot” because you were unlucky and got targeted by a deadly mechanic will feel very bad.
People will now be able to grief players by using mechanics like group soaks to run over to an isolated player while using an immunity to avoid dying themselves.
And it will cause the players to learn to avoid mechanics that can be deadly even if they are required to soak. And we already have a problem with people not doing mechanics.
Better to add a system to track how well players handled the fight.
How much avoidable damage did you take? Less damage, higher score.
How active were you? higher % higher score.
How well did you perform your role?
-Tank, how much damage did you mitigate and how well did you deal with tankbusters.
- Healer, how well did you keep players above 50% HP.
etc etc etc.
Give players a goal to better themselves that they can work towards instead of punishing them.

It feels like it’s always like that, also in keys, people who mess up the most, always get loot.
Its always hard to change something. If this was already thought into lfr when they made it, people will properly not notice it. Its hard to make changes in the game m8.
Or just simply - Dead = no kill = no loot.
Tried LFR last week as DPS. It was so engaging and fun I was falling asleep on bosses.
I remember little of what I did, I hope I did some damage (but I stayed alive all bosses though)
Certain amount of required damage/healing to have loot sounds reasonable
Like how you have to work for Determination too in LFR, not just wipe wipe wipe
I am starting to feel the OP’s annoyance. Last week I had several runs at Jailer where people just walked straight into holes and didn’t accept a res for the whole fight. I actually started immediately throwing a res on them when they died just to highlight the problem to everyone else.
Personally I’d just beef up automated afk detection in LFR. If a player does not accept a combat res, flag them as afk. If a player does not press keys for 60 seconds, flag them as afk. If the boss dies while flagged, no loot.
In the end, you can’t really truly force someone to play properly if they’re determined to go minimum effort - but you can make it so they can’t start a long boss and go make a coffee and still expect to get loot.
Honestly, I don’t mind people who show up to LFR, 2-button their 10-button class, do 3k dps, and get some loot. There is no easier level of raid, this is an appropriate place for them to be.
What I object to is people who auto attack and afk, so when the boss moves their character just stands still until it dies to avoidable damage. It’s really not very fair to the people who are actually trying to do the fight properly.

Issue with that is, some players really ARE that bad and die at every boss. Especially in LFR. The groups are filled with “Mechanic? That something to eat?” type of individuals, who either are completely new to raiding and it’s fight complexicity, have their difficulties adapting to the demands of a boss fight or simply don’t find it necessary to invest any effort into learning strats. While at least the last type of players would deserve their loot being luck rolled on by others, the other two types of players can’t be treated the same way, even though one sometimes feels the urge to gently shake them… LFR particularly is the easy mode for beginners, so them falling like autumn leaves is part of the programme.
And let’s be honest. We all die every once in a while and then afk to smoke, get a drink or… ice cream… or all three…

I go and flex in front of the mirror holding my phone personally. I should have your video ready soon actually.
But anyone going AFK to try and leech some loot is probably going to be very disappointed seeing as how loot drops are about as common as decent coffee from McDonalds.

I thought we were practicing a no-tolerance agenda towards OnlyFans?!
