Right so…
It’s a total pain in the backside grinding for LFR Transmogs when you’ve got higher gear.
The only work around is banking your current gear and going in nude 
Here’s a solution: Players should automatically get the lower transmog of any of the same but higher gear version.
Let me know if there’s a better solution…
