Here is an interesting expansion coming to Hearthstone. March of the Lich King. But it is not the expansion that takes the cake here. It is the Lore around it.
Apparently in this X-pac Arthas the Lich King attacks Quel’thalas and turns Silvermoon into frozen battlefield. Blood Elves rise to defend their home.
Among them there are 5 noticeable groups. 3 of them are quite obvious. The Magisters led by Grand Magister Rommath, Farstriders led by Ranger General Halduron Brightwing and Blood Knights led by Blood Matriarch Liadrin ‘Windrunner’ (distant cousin of Sylvanas)
2 others are Spellbreakers led by Asvedon the Grandshield and Demon Hunters led Felerin the Forgotten.
Now the term Demon Hunters is quite misleading at best. Because as of right now only Felerin himself seems to be an actual Demon Hunter. But in the dark corners of Silvermoon city, dark souls are crawling, Blood Elves that became addicted to Fel Magic, and either turned into disgusting Wretched or outright Fel Blood Elves. (You know the ones with Red or sickly pale skin, little black feathered wings on their back and so on.) They lived as outcasts in the city but when Scourge came once again to fight them, they banded together and stood united with the others to repel the invader.
I know this is very unlikely to be a canon story of WoW. But if we are to be quite open minded then we could squeeze this event into the timeline properly.
This could have happened shortly after Sunwell was restored, and during Pre-patch event of WotLK. When all other cities had floating Necropolis near them, Silvermoon was attacked by the main Scourge host.
Obviously attack was repelled and Scourge later moved to far more easy target, the Scarlet Enclave. But on it’s own such an attack could be possible and take place within game’s timeline.
I also would like to notice the change of rhetoric toward Blood Knights. They are presented as Vengeful Knights that bend Light to their will. Even though Sunwell was already restored. I wonder if this trend will move on to WoW and Blizzard will retcon all this Wannabe Paladin, Silver Hand 2.0 nonsense they were devolving into.
Also this whole idea of Fel addicted outcasts within the city is also very intriguing. Gives much more vibrancy to Belf society.
