All things considered this comparison actually holds up as these two factions have indeed many similarities:

  • Small group of elite soldiers (there’s even a quote by Lightforged (I think Y’mera), where it is stated that one Lightforged is worth ten regular soldiers…this quote is used in Wh40k to describe the Space Marines)

  • Both like to perform multiple SIMULTANEOUS and devastating deep strikes (Boreale…because you’re worth it) using drop pods (both groups) or warframes (AotL).

  • Speaking of warframes: They’re basically the power armor of the Lightforged.

  • While the Space Marines use “Dreadnoughts” the draenei have similar contructs for their greatest heroes (considering that the AU-draenei were able to build them on Draenor it stands to reason that the Exodar draenei/Lightforged could potentially do it as well)

  • One group is genetically modified to become the perfect soldiers, the other group is Lightforged.

  • Both groups are fanatics to a varying degree. (Black Templer being more akin to the Lightbound, while the Ultramarines are more similar to the regular Lightforged)

  • Holy fire. Everywhere. For both groups. (Not as much as the Sisters of Battle though.)

  • According to Allerias vision the Light has its own version of a Golden Throne…even though its version are giant crystals capable of sustaining millions of souls.

So, yeah…Blizzard was actually kinda lazy with the Lightforged.

Obviously they are awesome (I have a paladin, priest and mage myself)! Doesn’t change the fact though that they’re Warcrafts Space Marines :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel that the game does a bad job of portraying just how large and heavy the space goats are. Draenei/LF females are not thin wispy characters, but (more often than not) tall, muscular warriors who could imho give a Tauren a run for their money. Definitely the male-male and female-female matchups.

Can already see them shattering plate armour with a good solid kick :thinking:
