Due to the release of the new cloak, which will be with us for the entire season, Blizzard has obviously removed all cloak drops (except for transmogs, for which I am also grateful) from possible loot. That’s the situation… right now. Over the past three days, the Yogg-Saron timewalk raid has appeared, in which both bosses and weekly quests cache chest could drop… drum roll… A cloak! Just tonight, a hotfix was released for this: (For some reason I don’t understand, I can’t post links, just as I can’t post images, which will make this post a little harder to understand, but if anyone is interested in a screenshot of the GM’s response, please write to me and I can send it to you. I was one of the unlucky ones who, in a week where every piece of heroic gear is incredibly valuable, got a CLOAK, which I am extremely unhappy about. Considering that Blizzard has already acknowledged their mistake, I’m just trying to get my normal, well-deserved item so I don’t fall behind other players. Please help, anything, I don’t know how it works or what to do with it.

We understand the frustration this situation can cause, and appreciate any feedback about this situation.
As to avoid further frustration however I would like to clarify immediately that Forum staff has the same restrictions of GMs in regard of exchanging/granting items, so I am afraid if what you are looking for is to have a new item to replace the cloak, this post won’t serve for that purpose
AS of now we have no information regarding plans for compensation related to this issue, and given this I’d like to also add that the best option to have your voice heard in this situation is to actually submit a feedback directly from the game:

It’s silly that these kinds of fixes where Blizz basically admits fault by fixing it, doesn’t also immediately trigger the thought: we need to fix this RETROACTIVELY for people who already finished it. You thought people wouldn’t do this quest asap day 1 of the season if they can, or just don’t care?
Once upon a time a GM would turn-up in game and help with any issue you had such as, for example, pushing the quest to you again so that you could at least earn another reward after these kind of hotfixes. Bring back real GMs!

Yes, I understood what you meant. That is still bound by the same GM policies above as that would result in “granting items” through reflagging the quest.
I just made a bug report I will do a suggestion as well but this situation fcs everyone over who did it early.
How this could have slipped QA is unimaginable.
The same goes for the person responsible for adding belts to the new world boss. They should really reconsider if they are the right person to do this…
All belts and cloaks for max level characters below a certain treshold should be removed.
We already know of one nepo baby, the infamous first second generation employee, to have worked at Blizzard’s QA. Wouldn’t be surprising if Blizzard’s other nepo babies, of which I’m sure there are plenty, also got funneled into QA over the years. We also know they have a work culture where nobody wants to upset the nepo babies, even when told it’s fine to do so, due to fear of repercussions.
while we’re at it , can you remove belts from the delve bounty pool? fugging sucks to get a heroic piece that is a belt since you made the D.I.S.C so good you won’t probably replace even for a myth track item.
