Simple question. Just started a new zandalari ret pally, and i was wondering which loa to pick for the racial? Seems to be between bwonsamdi, kimbul or gonk, but i have no idea.

For retribution, the best choices feel like between Pa’ku, Kimbul and Bwonsamdi. Although Bwonsamdi might be better for the squishier classes, because a paladin usually wouldn’t have as much trouble surviving. The choice between Kimbul and Pa’ku feels like it would need some simming to figure out which results in more damage. (Unless someone simmed enough to know which of these would usually turn out more)
Or if you prefer to solo and not do much dungeons, take Gonk. Running faster while questing is always good.
Kimbul sims the best dps increase followed by Bwonsamdi then Pa’ku, got to remember that it has a 5 day CD as well.
I see it as this:
If your only playing Ret then Kimbul is your go to
If you switch between Prot and Ret then Bwonsamdi would be more useful for you
If you switch between all 3 specs then Pa’ku for the extra crit benefits all 3 specs

Kimbul for single target paku for aoe, so paku for general use on your ret pala, Actually kimbul is not farbehind on aoe also so you can go with that for both aoe and single target.
Ok, been leveling my pala using kimbul as loa, and unless I’m missing something, the choice is damn near useless. The proc rate is very low, the damage is low, and even on the tougher dungeon bosses, I’ve never seen the proc stack. Not even once.
I may as well choose gonk for the movement speed, because unless paku and bwonsamdi had drastically better proc rates, the dps options seem to be pointless.

I’ve seen an alright amount of procs myself, yes no more than 1% of my dps but that is to be expected from a racial, all loa has the same proc rate its just the bleed effect ignores armor and still effects the target in ur not in melee range, can proc off judgement and BoW which don’t require you to be in melee range
Kimbul is best for Single Target. Allows minimal sustained damage even while out of range. Great for keeping targets in combat.
Pa’ku is best for multi-target fights. Simple because other Embraces only seem to proc on the main target, while Pa’ku boosts all damage output when it procs. Crit is always good.
Bwonsamedi is an alright choice for a little bit of healing. Won’t save you from a hard smack but it’ll soften some incoming hurt. Also really cool for a “Dark Paladin”.
I must say I forgot to go to a shrine at the start and still have not gone back to choose… -_-’ I constantly forget about it… I wish there was one preselected so you at least can use it… even if it is not the optimal one…
There is, you have the Paku buff by default (chance of 4% crit).
