Not only do you get to skip ahead of any queues by sitting on the character selection screen, but also a few people (me included) have had crashing issues (3D Acceleration Failed) on loadup that required a PC restart (and some settings changed) to fix! 
So come on over and enjoy the character selection screen for 20 minutes!

Deleting and recreating chars every 15 min!
I sit on logging screen and only click “Change Realm” and then i pick Mirage again sitting like that since 1,5 H.
Seems like they disabled the half an hour kick-off so no need to click change realm Some people have sat on the screen for hours
I got my login-screen in the background, Spotify playing the original WoW soundtracks (it’s glorious), and half of my screen covered by browser with forum.
Every now and then I mouse over my character names on the other side of my screen and haven’t gotten disconnected yet for the past 2 hours.
