lol cool!! I can steal your candy jars!
Phobias are mostly irrational fears, sadly some posters aren’t very sympathetic.
However there are various things I dislike visually in the game, like those bears with eggs all over them in the Hillsbrad Foothills. Just gives me the ick.
Oh you would be surprised.
I played dbd for a while and in these forums people complaint all the time about phobias and that’s a horro adjacent game.
Not that I don’t have sympathy for something like that. my wife has a big problem with heights in games cause her fear of heights sometimes translate into games. It’s not every time and not every game but some. The thing is she just doesn’t play games where that’s a problem and the few times it happens in wow she either don’t play the content it she power through.
Dragon riding was a big problem for her at the start and now she sometimes even has fun with it.
It’s not nice when a phobia hinders you to have fun in a game but people that complain about it need to understand that it’s not possible to have a filter for every phobia and so when people start to moan about something like this it will just lead to blizz stopping to include stuff that might trigger a phobia wich makes the game more bland
Oh dear god I hate that part of Hillsbrad.
“Go and harvest these spider eggs.”
“OK Fair enough. Where are they?”
“Umm. See those bears there?”
“Yes, why…”
“Well…”
“Oh no no no no…”
And then you see they’ve also infected the cubs…
when people fear something in movies and games, does that mean its all in your head?
Its right there. Its not like people are imagining it.
you look lovely today ^,…^
it´s there but it won´t jump out of the screen
No one says its going to junp out.
People see this as negative.
I see this as positive. You actually have some form of emotional response to the game. And the appropriate one: Plagued bears. They are supposed to be icky. And they fulfill their job perfectly.
That are treatable. Its like having an gangrene and refusing to take anti-biotics. The result: amputation. Its like smoking and then complaining you get lung cancer. Its like having an eating disorder and being surprised you got diabetes.
All are diseases. All are treatable.
When people refuse to get treatment its when it stops being my problem.
Im not telling u what to do but I personally dont wonna see this soft fiesta in the forums.
You gonna attempt to limit the art team because you got some made up nonsense?
Have you not seen fish/frog eggs before ?
Bolba tea fobia.
Grow up dude.
Treatable does not mean it will go better or it will go away.
Psychological problems aren’t the common cold you can’t just throw treatment at it and it goes away.
Naturally. Never said it wasent a serious problem. I compared it with cancer and diabetes.
However, using your analogy, when I get a common cold or any other more serious disease, I don’t make everyone else responsible of my well-being. Nor do I expect special treatment from society.
I stay in bed and I try not to bother too much. Its the least I can do.
And it applies to mental illnesses as well. More serious things like depression is something people really never overcome. What they do overcome and learn to control is the collateral damage such diseases cause on others and yourself. Like family, work, and in private.
Yeah im against them making it the problem of everyone else.
You just sounded as if they just need to get treated and then it’s not a problem anymore.
If that’s not the case all good
I still find phobias in a virtual environment to be ridiculous.
Like, a lot of people have a fear of heights yet have no problems with heights in video games…
Similarly, many would faint at the sight of blood yet have no problems playing gory games.
The key element is people knowing it ain’t real… people shouldn’t be working themselves up over it.
When me saw this eggs. I liked “oh nice alien’s eggs”
It’s like frogspawn.
But we dont see frogs in isle, something other monster’s egg-spawn
Maybe snapdragon’s
It’s definitely disgusting. I don’t know if it’s triggering trypophobia (which is REALLY common, by the way) but it’s definitely disgusting. It could be trypophobia because although it isn’t holes, it does have the typical trypophobia patterns in its surface.
I wanna throw up every time I see the full trigger, which is usually depicted as skin with hexagonal or round holes with little white dots in the middle - like insects have built a hive under the skin.
In any case, I don’t really mind even though I have trypophobia. But some things in WoW are actually designed to be disgusting, and that’s okay.
EDIT: Full trigger, view at your own risk

But for some reason for some people there phobias translate into games.
My wife has a fear of heights and it’s not every game but in some games her fear of heights shows. She doesn’t now herself why it happens in some games.
Alice madness returns was one such game should could simply not continue to play it even so she really enjoyed it. And when dynamic flying got introduced she really struggled too but now she is just fine with it.
I think it’s just easier to overcome a fear when you know it’s not real but that does not mean it can’t show
+1.
Everyone gets depressed once in their lifetime. But not everyone has the medical condition of depression. Everyone is afraid of stuff. But not everyone has a phobia. Few, very few people do.
For me, calling everything a phobia feels to me like the fashion of confusing “intolerant to glucose” and Celiac Disease. Its not possible that in the past 5 years all of a sudden tons of people that were fine for millenia eating bread have some disease. And its a shame. Because it dilutes the seriousness of the real disease (Celiac Disease) which is deadly.
I have the impression that phobias are in the same fashion. From what I read on the internet now everyone has some phobia. When in reality, real phobias give panic attacks and cripling anxiety. People with that condition should not even be able to play wow at all ! Some even have problems leaving their house.
And this situatoin is a shame. Confusing phobias with “ickiness” (that everyone has)… dilutes the real seriousness of the condition for the few that have it.
That is my opinion.
that will fix them for good
It’s not remotely the same thing. It’s ridiculous to compare the two in such an oversimplified fashion.
What I always find astounding is a lack of empathy. If you are someone who fears nothing or is not triggered by anything that’s great. Though statistically nearly everyone has an irrational fear or two of something. Most don’t need any help unless it’s something that’s hindering your life, if it causes anxiety attacks, panic or physically stops you doing something.
I don’t find those clusters of eggs icky but I can fully appreciate that someone else may feel that way. No sensible person would go through a series of treatments, medications and counselling for something as simple as this image gives me an unsettling feeling.
So lets keep some perspective here. Finding a bunch of eggs triggers something is not the same as needing a course of antibiotics to fight off an infection.
