Logged out inside of a Raid and this happened

I logged out inside Tempest Keep, logged back in today and I was teleported to my heartstone location… all the way back to Draenor.
I tought I’d be teleported outside the instance?
Why does it work like this?
Does this mean that I have to walk back to the entrance every time?

Probably because you were inside while the weekly reset happened.

I was inside the raid when I logged out yesterday. Today I logged in and my character was at my heartstone location.

You will always be at least ejected from an instance if you log out in there. The game doesn’t keep them open indefinitely with nobody active.

That you got hearthstoned is probably because it was tuesday-wednesday, when raids undergo a full reset.

Log out while outside the raid and you won’t be moved.

Yup, resets send all charaters inside a raid/dungeon back to their HS locations.

If you log back in during the same reset, it sends you to the nearest GY.

Dont know why, thats just how they have made it.

I get that the raid reset, and I knew I wouldn’t stay inside when I logged back in. My issue is that it took me to my heart location. Very annoying. Just teleport us out.

I think if the game is confused it ports you to your hearthstone location.

It has caused issues in Mythic plus sometimes where it’s disconnected a player and then it can’t figure out where they are and puts them at their hearth location. Pretty much costs us the key usually.

Best to log out, outside the instance.

I should also mention there is a window of time, where your chacter remains inside the raid at the same spot, So immidiate re logging wont teleport you to the GY.

I’m not a huge raid farmer, so I’m not sure how long it is excatly, but 5 hours works for sure. You can find the exact amount you need to be logged off for the teleport to happen in wowhead or wowwiki for example.

Probably a technical limitation, like if it’s reset day it wipes your instance so the game has no idea where you are. Be thankful it’s HS location and not Sentinel Hill/Crossroads.
