Lol, try joining a bg, like epic bg, when you level up

90% of the teams are either arms warriors or markmanship hunters xD

I got one school of magic, and wherever I go, I end up with 10 arms warriors running around in circles hitting me.

When I gate away, another warrior joins.

Then I teleport to my pad, I get a ranged stun and then yet another warrior runs around me and poof dead.

And marksmanship hunters arent overpowered, but there is a reason why people prefer to play them.
Let me compare my affliction warlock to a marksmanship hunter (excluding long cds):
To do decent damage, I need to: cast siphon life, corruption, agony, haunt, unstable affliction, singular and drain soul. Without protection like circle, this is one school of magic. One interrupt, and I cant do crap, unless I cast my nature spell. And smart players will not even interrupt the nature spell, because it deals garbage tier damage and they just have to wait for me to cast shadow spells again.
Marksmanship hunter: 100k sniper shot. 30-50k aimed shots, cannot be interrupted. Rapid Fire dealing as much damage per tick as all dots + drain soul. In the end of the bg, total damage is about 5 times more than an affliction warlock because of interrupt immunity and no need to ramp up damage.

I miss SL. Want to know why? Because affli warlocks were fun.

Night Fae transformation and covenant helped me alot.
Drain life weakening effect pre-nerf stacked quickly and reduced the m**g*-level of melees.
Casting circle enemy teleport was fun to use, now its useless because melees got so much * mobility anyway they just come back in 1 second.
Ive stopped using gate+soul burn. It doesnt help anymore, guess its only good in arena now.

I thought I would enjoy this expansion but it makes me miss Shadowlands so badly now. With all the covenant abilities gone, and antimelee utilies nerfed, noone plays caster anymore.

I have litteraly seen ZERO enemy moonkins by now lol. And to see so few mages around is weird. They used to dominate epic bgs but now I maybe see like one… per 3 matches?

I hate dragonflight:) worst expansion ever. I hate it. I hate it, I hate it, the guilds my main is in are dying, the communities are dying and the friend list is dying. Didnt see this happen so fast in Shadowlands:)

TL;DR (start)
It is one of the weaknesses for the affli lock, that it only uses 1 school of magic, compared to almost all other casters. It has other strengths to make up for such weaknesses. (Casting Circle can be a great addition, if interrupts are a big problem)
TL;DR (end)

How on earth can Sniper Shot hit for that much?
It does 20% of the targets’ health in physical damage. That means, it does 20% damage and then have that damage reduced by the armor value of the target.

Unless the target runs around with 500k health and no armor and no verse, then I can’t see how it can hit for that much.
(I rarely use it. So I don’t know if it can crit. But even if it does 75% more damage on a crit, I find it difficult to believe that it can hit for 100k. But please correct me if I am wrong.)

With that said, I do agree with you on the single spell school. However, that is a problem that is somewhat unique to paladins and warlocks. If we forget hunters for a moment and compare warlocks to other casters, then we will see that most other casters have alternative schools they can use if one gets interrupted, such as Priest (Holy/shadow), Shaman (nature, fire, frost), mage (arcane, fire, frost), Moonkins (arcane (I think) and nature).

An alternative you could try would be destruction, as they use both the fire school and shadow school (be careful about chaos bolts as they use both schools. Meaning getting interrupted on that will interrupt both of the other schools).

With that said, comparing hunters and warlocks is difficult, as they have very particular strengths and weaknesses.
As you mention, hunter is the only ranged class which cannot get interrupted, which is a clear strength. But they are also the class with the least amount of self-healing, having their survivability being based on their ability to kite (and thereby avoid taking damage in the first place, instead of healing what damage they take, like a warlock). This is a clear weakness at the moment with all the gap-closers melee got.

With all this said, I did main warlock (affli) in SL and switched to hunter at the start of DF, because I was sick and tired of all the interrupts (+ the stress of keeping as many dots up on the enemy team as possible, at all time or your overall damage will suffer greatly).

All of what I have just said is mostly with my primary experience being in Rated BGs.
Just thought I would throw in my two scents.

saying marksmen is op after the current patch notes
i cant even put into words how wrong you are

imagine actually complaining about MM while playing warlock

  • RBG’s are dominated by Warlocks and shadow priests. because of the interrupt protection… you literally are needed in ever comp

First of all, I am speaking about the leveling experience.

Also, I said that mm hunters arent overpowered, why are you blaming me for saying that they are op when I already said that thet werent?

i apologise i skimmed the post quickly , i saw overpowered and hunter on same line

  • to answer the post though, leveling isnt designed for BG content
    so wont change much tbf

  • leveling as an experience gives you the choice on whatever activity you do to gain exp but exp gain from Bgs is low, you are encouraged to quest and do dungeons to gain levels quicker

Well youre right but I have just given up. I quit. I wanted to get 15k honor before 70 but I quit. :frowning:

you can send honor to alts with tokens from a main
loot them from chests
also the gearing process at 70 for pvp is very very quick

  • for example
i have a DK, Druid and this hunter all 422+ ilvl in pvp

Sorry I am mad, I am mad a t this game, not you all.

I love how you all are giving me suggestion, have a good day and I hope a good 2023 for you all. Pvp is some of us all angry sadly;(

im thinking of making a warlock as my next alt, at 70 they are very strong , keep going

What you write has always bothered me, besides class balance, gear matters a lot. I mean, everything.

It made me mad enough to ritualistically murder my character by breaking every bone in her many times over (late 2008). Not too many as the resurrection timer did kick in.

Now I know that PvP is a joke, so I play it rarely and with very specific goals. Such as being a raid healer between two respawns. Peeking at the scoreboard told me that I’m probably having the most fun among my peers - given I just kept doing it and I pretty much dominated healing done every single battleground in leveling greens and blues, despite easily dying from a single ability - or during a short stun, no difference really.

The lesson? Set yourself a smart goal, then go for it. (It’s an acronym. A = attainable)
If you care for proper PvP games, look for the MOBA genre. In Heroes there is Gul’dan for the warlock theme, but you might enjoy something completely different.
If you want to PvP in WoW, maybe just level first, then get good PvE gear for a start as a glass cannon. From there you can adjust and probably improve.
If you want to win, reroll FOTM. Troubled by warriors and hunters? Become one. It’s really how it goes - designers balance around winrates and popularity.

ps.: It’s not PvP but GvG - bring the gear, dominate. In Heroes there is a 4% stat difference per level and it’s considered significant. Two levels and you should avoid fights. I notice it very much on numbers heroes - in advantage, I melt, in disadvantage, I fail. Four percent. In WoW, it’s pretty normal to have a 400% stat difference.

Not worth the time. Leveling up and do BGs is still way faster IMO
I bet (lvl70) mid-aged tryhards teams up 80% of the games.
Not fun if you dont have gang

I got hit by 150k sniper shots

Just sit back and use ranged spells, Doing randoms as a low geared ranged is way more fun than doing it as a melee, I’m not even joking alliance win like 90% of epic and normal BG’s atm too

I would love to know how. Because my math doesn’t add up. There’s probably something I don’t know, I suppose.

Idk how it happened it was in normal bgs

You can’t beat hunters from 1-70. Don’t try. Even with mediocre gear they just delete you from max range.
