Hi everyone,
I’ve been experiencing persistent issues with World of Warcraft (Retail) where load screens are significantly longer than expected, and character models take an unusually long time to render after the environment has loaded. These problems persist despite using a higher-end PC and with no other games inc Blizz games, and I’m hoping to find others with similar issues or a potential solution.
Issue Details:
Load Screens: Often 10-15 times longer than expected.
Character Rendering: Environments render first, followed by a long delay before character models appear.
Performance in Game: Once loaded, the game runs perfectly with high frame rates and no stuttering.
System Specifications:
Operating System: Windows 11 (Build 10.0.22631.4602)
Processor: Intel Core i7-12700KF, 12 cores, 20 threads
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (Driver Version: r560_88, released 14-Aug-2024)
RAM: 32 GB
Storage: Game installed on NVMe SSD with >3000 MB/s read speed.
Steps I’ve Tried:
Cleared cache, WTF, and Interface folders.
Disabled and re-enabled shader caches.
Tested different DirectX versions (D3D11, D3D11_LEGACY, D3D12).
Fully reinstalled the game on a clean SSD.
Ran without add-ons.
Performed clean installation of NVIDIA drivers using DDU.
Verified game files and reinstalled DirectX libraries.
Checked Windows and GPU settings, including disabling low-latency mode and fullscreen optimisations.
Observations:
Other games, including GPU-heavy ones, load and run perfectly.
Logs indicate an inability to load “d3d12.dll,” though the game runs with DirectX 11.
No unusual disk or CPU activity during load screens.
If anyone has encountered similar issues or has insights into resolving them, I’d greatly appreciate your input. Blizzard Support has advised reporting this here to gather additional feedback.
