Same here, but you can avoid this if raiding in a guild. Since bosses drop roughly same amount of items in GDKP as any other run there is no P2W only P2LootItFirst. Consider if guild knew you were a good player and boosted you by taking your naked alt and gearing him in everything they could, was it considered a form of abuse to skip general gearing?
Before the logs there were DPS check quotas.
Always has been. Find a guild or friends to carry your ungeared character proove you are a skilled player in a new team. PUGs will always consider numbers instead of a words or deeds first.
There are literally dozen way fresh 80 can gear up and if consistent enough catching up with the raiding mains. While they work for every of their BiS you can get previous phase pre Ulduar gear in less than a month.
Have it ever struck you that some does not like to buy, grind, do pvp? They might not even enjoy raiding as it is very time consuming.
Some enjoy doing instances only trying various classes. Thats just frustrating now.
Yeah I know if gearing up was the goal there are other (less enjoyable) ways than HCs…
Just remember. Not everyone plays the game the way you do it, think like you and enjoy the same as you: People are different. Blizzard seriously screwed over the ones with fresh 80s enjoying HCs… this was a MAJOR part of the original game. Now its turned into Retail s***t!
The problem I feel with some fresh 80s is that they themselfs dont want to get geared with other fresh 80s, one step at the time (Decent blues > Pre-Raid BiS + Crafted > Phase 1 10s > Phase 1 25s > Phase 2 10s etc) but they immediately want to jump from fresh 80s to current BiS lists in raids with established characters. Then get frustrated when people dont want to carry them.
I have most classes on max level (some only during TBC), but the way to approach it is to know where to search for groups with who, and having a community or guild where you can get a pass based on previous performance and knowledge if not gear is “up to date”.
Gearing an Alt has never been a problem for me, but then again I dont expect it to be BiSed out in the first reset. Im thinking if people are that impatient with leveling they probably are with gearing aswell.
But bots were nowhere near as intrusive in 2019 as they are now.
They were confined to dungeons or empty servers. Now they are even in the battlegrounds, and there is A LOT of them.
I don’t care about the parsing nerds and gearscore snobs. You don’t like these people, you don’t play with them. Problem solved
But bots running amok in my bgs are something that really ruins the game. Even if they are on the opposite team, it isn’t fun to beat them up. I’d go to do dungeons or raids if I want to kill AI units.
Yea there are many ways to play, and you just made a post where you said you dont want to do 90% of it, and whining that your prefered 10% is not as efficient as doing all of it.
anyone who compares bots from 2019 to todays bots is just pure delusional,
i literally watched a dk bot in starter gear run back and forth from the mail box to the auction house,
you go anywhere, and i mean anywhere in the open world you were see a dk running around farming materials, you cant make this stuff up.
Gearscore/iLvL was always a gatekeeping mechanism, but it’s a non-issue.
I hate leveling with a passion, but few days ago I finally get my first alt to 80. I would argue that the fresh 80 experience is quite smooth at this moment.
Even if you don’t have any source of gold, and you only have the amount you got while you were leveling, you can easily buy like 3-4 boe epics and a few blues from the AH at the moment you dinged 80.
Then you do a few normal heroics, and with some luck, you can start naxx or hc+ on the same day. I did my first few raids in heirloom items, and no one bat an eye… If you worried about the gatekeeping, try to find a group before reset, problem solved.
In few days you can get ulduar-ready. Tbh the hardest part of being a fresh 80 char right now is finding a heroic group that’s not hc plus.
Fresh 80s doomed? I can literaly get my Fresh 80 alt ready for Ulduar the very same lockout I reached 80 in. With all the raid BoEs, Darkmoon Trinkets and almost-BiS crafted items I can get solid-geared without even leaving Dalaran. Add HC+ to that and enjoy.
First two are bandaids. Unless Blizzard actively act on reports it’s impossible to utilize them. Also you can only report someone from Botting if they’re close to you meaning numerous bots running dungeons and Battlegrounds are mostly free to roam.
Of the remaining 3 only one is really solvable by joining a decent guild. Gatekeeping will still exists even on guild level (moreso for raids than dungeons that much is true) as GS requirement is still in place. Hell recently I tried to join an Ulduar10 hosted by my Guildie. Clean up one with just 4 bosses remaining (Freya, Mimirin, Vezax and Yogg) and ultimately I was rejected because I lack practical knowledge of the tactics. And while they understood that everyone needs to start somewhere the rest of the raid group wasn’t so forgiving. I’ve yet to set foot in Ulduar despite meeting the gear requirement.
The last “Join a decent guild” is a fallacy as just being in decent guild doesn’t really work. Nobody in any guild is obligated to help me if they don’t want to.
Great so you carry very large sack of gold? Darkmoon Card Greatness is still At least 4k investment (On Nethergarde the Intelligence one was Priced at 7.5k while full deck was around 5.3k) and in general trinkets are hard to come by. And without good trinkets you can kiss your odds of just buying gear to reach Uld requirements goodbye.
