Looking for advice on keybindings - left handed

Like the title says, I’m a leftie and have been using the same WoW setup for almost 11 years. I play on a laptop (I move between houses a lot) and always played with the laptop keyboard. I also used the mouse with my left hand as I found it more comfortable, even though many lefties are able to play with their less dominant right hand.

Because of this, I preferred using the right side of the keyboard as my hands would otherwise be too close together and would be a bit uncomfortable. I was also a very mild keyboard turner but nowadays just use the arrow keys to strafe. With my hands usually over the arrow keys, I set up my key bindings close by, including keys such as period (.), apostrophe (’), forward slash (/), colon (:), and used Ctrl as a modifier (disgusting, I know).

Recently my laptop keyboard had some problems so I bought a temporary USB keyboard. All it took with a different-sized Ctrl and RShift button to make me realize how bad and restricted my previous bindings were.

I’m willing to sacrifice a decade of muscle memory for the optimal setup and bindings so that I can also use the setup for when my laptop keyboard is repaired (which might be a while given the current situation).

I’m here now to ask the community - both left and right handers - for advice on this. Has anybody ever experienced having to relearn bindings?

Particularly for the lefties though: does anyone play with the mouse on the left side and manage to set up their bindings effectively? What bindings work for you?

Thank you!

(Right-handed) Generally takes me about a week when I change things.

I’d probably go with PL;, in a mirrored wasd setup. That’ll give you access to shift and alt as modifiers (and possibly ctrl depending on your Fn key etc.)

Razer’s also looking to re-launch a left-handed Naga this year which will give you access to 12 thumb buttons.

Thanks so much for you reply and advice.

I’m setting up my bindings that way and I can already feel it as a big improvement with more freedom compared to my previous setup. Will definitely look into a left handed mouse in the future.

Just throwing it out there,
