Basically, I got bored with retail so now I want to reexperience wotlk.
I want to raid cause I didn’t get to raid a lot when wotlk was current.
Howewer I am not sure if it is not too late to start levelling now so I want to ask if there’s any guilds currently looking for new people?
Or I guess to be more precise, I am worried that I will commit hundreds of hours to levelling and then be stuck unable to find a raiding guild.
So I am making this post so I maybe will get an idea of what server and faction to play on.
I am willing to play mostly any class / role.
TLDR I want to start playing wotlk and am looking for a guild that will maybe help me with levelling and most importantly have a raid spot for me!
Thank you in advance for any and all offers, see you on Azeroth
On the realm you are on you won’t really find an Alliance guild.
You need to give some options to people, like the very basic simple one, horde or alliance?
All PvP realms except Firemaw are horde.
Yeah I levelled this character earlier this year and didn’t check the server population.
So now I am looking to make a new character and not make the same mistake.
Like I said I am willing to play any faction, class, role
I played WOTLK on and off, never reached max level. I was trying different classes, unsure what I like the most.
I transferred my 40+ mage to Earthshaker, will try to use the exp buff to gain some levels.
Keep in mind that Blizzard introduced catch-up mechanics where heroic dungeons bosses drop previous raid gear.
If you are decently geared, guilds will take you because they experience high drop rates.
My observations are that melee especially paladins are abundant, there is more demand for ranged/healers.
PVP realms are mono-faction so there won’t be any PVP.
Unfortunately there are no free transfers from Golemagg to an Alliance server.
You could transfer to Hydraxian Waterlords Roleplaying but it’s low population, still better that being an Alliance character on a Horde server.
I don’t recommend WotLK. The leveling is really bad and gearing up for raids will be a challenge (not the good kind) at this time. If you want something significantly different from retail, try Era.

Thanks for the tip.
Interesting. I actually found levelling pretty fun on my paladin, and that was way before the 50% exp buff.
I tried levelling a rogue on classic era but wasn’t having much fun and uninstalled at level 19.
But tbh I don’t want to commit hundreds of hours to levelling unless I have assurance that a guild will have a rair spot for me therefore this post.

I don’t think a guild can guarantee you a raid spot before you are 80 and geared.
Still worth trying in my opinion.
Do not jump on any role party wagon.
Raid usually consist of
1MT (Paladin)
1OT with dps spec (DK/Feral druid)
3 core healers (Holy paladin, DC priest, Resto shaman)
2 healers with dps off spec (Resto/Ele/Ench shaman, Resto/Balance druid)
Now before we move to dps I might notice that MT and core healer roles are usually taken by guild officers and having offspec isn’t a privilege, but a burden as you do not have the means to get BiS gear for both specs equally, especially in guilds with DKP and sort of point loot distribution systems. If you won’t have the offspec you will be benched to bring more dps instead of 5th healer (even 4th in some encounters) or benched as the second tank in encounters where 1 tank (Usually RL or officer) can handle the boss alone. But even if you do you will meet wil competition from other dps on bench, who will have better gear, since the dedicate their recources to one spec only most of the time.
Now dps are usually split into physical melee, hunters and casters.
Most raids would like to have.
1 Ench shaman/FDK
Combat rogue + Muti rogue
1 Hunter
1 Moonkin
1 Shadow Priest
1 Affli +1 Demo warlock
The rest will be filled preferably by top meta DPS classes that depends from the phase, so I recommend looking classic warcraft logs for the stats and for current phase.
All I can say you can’t go wrong if pick ranged dps (except hunter as the are in low demand). They are always needed.
The best way of showing any guild you want to raid is to get to level 80 and gear up with as many things you can get a hold on before stepping into a raid (or atleast the current one). Finding a guild in that state wont be a problem.
I could never be bothered with low level people with a history of quitting or changing classes after 2 weeks. Their promises isnt worth anything. Show, dont tell.
Fence riding already about if you should or shouldnt invest already tells guilds you will be offline as soon as the current content has been on farm for more than 2 weeks.

No mention of Fire Mage - top tier DPS.
Wotlk is awesome and i really hope you find a good guild to stay in! Get to 80 and try to get as much gear you can get from AH Dungeons etc. And youre not to late! Hc++ will gear you up really quick and then you can buy ulduar 10m HM items from a new currency vendor.
And since totc is considered an easy raid you most guilds might be interested to boost you up aslong as youre showing that you will be reliable.
Alright I|ll get to levelling then.
Still not sure what realm to choose tho.
Alliance or Horde?
Then choose the most populated server for your faction.
Yep.
Looked up realm population.
Just created a blood elf mage called Radona on Gehennas.
Golemagg is your other option, maybe you can create on both and see where there are more low level characters around.
Well I plan to level solo mostly.
Although I might buy a wow token to get some boes along the way and for mount and whatnot.
I would defo recommend to get a token or 2. Keep track of how much gold it gives and buy when its high
Lvling in wrath is really pleasent since you have abit faster pace then classic giving you abit more progression and less grind.
Yep already got one. Although I guess there is no auction house in SIlvermoon in wotlk so will have to wait until Orgri to get my cash.
There is an auction house in silvermoon, hard to explain where
