So this is my fourth time clearing the raid on both normal and hc without getting a single set piece. Finally 2x set tokens for my class dropped and I need rolled 84. Unfortunately I lost to someone rolling 85 while already having the set piece equipped on the same item level. (have screenshots of this)
Is this intentional? You can need roll on gear you have equipped already?
If so, do they incentivize people to pay geared looters to need roll for them?
I can not believe this is how it works.
Why design a system that enforces me to cherry pick classes/looters for my raid such that I can optimize my own loot, instead of a system where I want to invite anyone good/friendly regardless of their class and items equipped? Makes no sense to me.
This is so stupid however something similar bs happened with me on m+ too: got an item from Ruby that I couldn’t trade to someone who actually needed it because it was 3/4 iLvL higher than my equipped one.
And much worst in stats. Like, I understand iLvL is “important” but damn, I felt so bad not being able to give it to someone actually needed the item from my party…
Same happened to me.
After 4 weeks off no-gear on my druid a 411 ilvl hunter needed NM tier gloves while he had exactly the same equipped.
It made me unsubscribe, Group loot killed the game for me.
Understandable. I really enjoy all other aspects of the game. I think they nailed this expansion, except for the group loot. This is ruining all other parts of the game for me with the set pieces and group loot.
Hard for me to explain my frustration of losing set gear to someone who has it equipped already. If I want to push higher keys +22,+23 it simply does not make sense to invite me when I’m missing set gear.
I guess the only solution is to pay gold to someone who can need and trade the gear.
i agree but that is the definition of upgrade…one solution to such thing is to always guarantee sockets on tier sets but no tertiary stats so it doesnt allow another possible roll if someone has it
This is the stuff I know well, too, and why I say the root determins the product, and the game caters so much to bad conduct that it rubs it in your face with a trollish grin.
We have to discuss why Blizzard refuses to implement intelligent logic that tries to achieve the fairest outcome. Cases like yours should absolutely be a prime example for how not to design a check logic.
It is tragicomical how these things tend to end up in a pig cycle - always alternating between two extremes instead of finding a smart balance.
Blizzard not seeming to understand that tertiary stats and sockets are a thing already bothered me in SL. And those can raise the effective item level tremendously.
In SL I also did little raid finder - only as much as I could endure. And most loot opportunities there were other people wanting to trade something to me but were not allowed to. - And because the system always tries to make things even more confusing, the item appeared in the trade window and then it closed and it took me a while to figure out what had happened because usually people vanish into thin air too quickly to talk it over. Instead the system could have blocked adding it to the trade window. In fact, isn’t this a lack of fraud-proof if you can add stuff to the trade window that isn’t tradeable?
LFR just should just have PL back regardless of what your ilvl is / if you have better gear already. If people are there for transmog they should have a chance to get whatever it is they’re there for. Queueing up just to help strangers gear and not even get a chance (which lets be honest is how it works right now) is just a stupid system doomed to make LFR queues even longer as time goes on.
Actually just bring back PL for everything with the option of Master Loot for whatever guild wants that. What we have now sucks.
Group loot worked during times when people were on the same server
ninja looters used to be flagged so player reputations mattered
nowadays you raid with a bunch of people you might never come across again
people need on everything without giving a damn.
Things in general evolve into something better
if Group loot was great then why did Blizzard change it to personal loot in the first place
and then again, rather than implementing a proper and modern and fair loot system they travel back in time and restore an old loot system.

Loot rules sucks this time anyway… i raided every id since the raid came out and still havent receive an item…this is so depressive. I ragequit and now im playing final fantasy again… fk this game
if you plan on disenchanting thats a greed roll you dont need the item itself and your taking a potential upgrade for someone else and thats why old need before greed ad a disenchant roll
New loot system is poopp and i stopped caring in LFR. I press need if i can and dont wait to see if i get the item or if its an actual upgrade. Only after raid i check what did i get and do i vendor or DE it.
