Lost a large amount of gold, no idea how

Hi,

I’m really confused and hoping someone can help or shed some light on this.

On July 30th, I had around 55,000 gold. By August 3rd, I was down to about 21,000 — and I honestly have no idea where it all went.

I didn’t buy anything from the Auction House (only sold a few items), I repaired my gear a couple of times, did some transmog, and barely played overall. I don’t think I even died during that time. I also remember experiencing some lag and a disconnect around that period — not sure if it’s related.

Is there anything in the game that could have silently cost me that much gold?
Or has anyone else had a similar experience?

Any help would be appreciated.

Well AH fees, deposits could be a sinker. If your item is quite valuable then it also takes that amount if it goes unsold.

AH fees of that value would be for listing something for like 600,000. I suppose someone could accidentally list for something for 600K by accident?

Bestattung, do you have alts? Did you send gold to them? Did you deposit gold in your Warband Bank? Have you checked whether you have gold in your Warband bank?

Did you get any strange mails from strangers?

I really don’t think I spent that much on listing fees — I was mostly posting low-value materials, and if anything, each listing would’ve cost like 1g or less. I didn’t try to list anything around 600,000g or anywhere close to that.

I did a quick test and sent 2g from another toon to check things, but I didn’t use the toon that had the large amount of gold. I haven’t transferred or deposited any significant amount, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t send anything major to other alts either.

I’ll double-check the Warband Bank just in case, but as far as I remember, I only spent 1,000g on unlocking it.

Still can’t account for the rest of the missing gold.

Is there a way to check if I accidentally listed something for a crazy price? Or if a fee was taken due to expired auctions?

Still feels like way too much gold lost for basic AH activity.

You can also store goild IN it. There is a gold amount in the strip below the slots. I leave a few thousand in it so any alt can grab some at any time,

The second tab costs 25,000, which is near the amount you are missing. Do you have two tabs available?

There is no way to check your previous AH traffic, unless you use an addon that tracks it.

You could ticket and ask a GM if you think gold has vanished and you can’t explain it.

AH deposit is based on the vendor price of the item, not the price you put it on so that is unlikely to explain the loss of gold.

My guess is that you accidentally purchased too many of some item from AH or too expensive item one - those seem the most common mistakes.

Transmoging at high levels costs a couple of thousend gold and people tend to lose track untill they run out of gold

It’s possible it was just a display bug. I only looked at the gold amount on the character selection screen, and when I logged in afterwards, I didn’t really pay attention to how much gold the character actually had. So now I’m wondering if I never had 55,000 gold to begin with, and maybe it was just a visual bug on the login screen.
