Just started playing WoW again today after having a break for the last 8 months.
Come back and my chat log is constantly being spammed with “Lost connection to the voice chat service” error.
How can I stop this from happening? There seems to be no way to disable voice chat which I assume would stop this.
My ping is also incredibly high for some reason while playing. This shouldn’t be the case
Is the voice chat thing still happening now? They had issues earlier, but they were supposed to be fixed https://twitter.com/BlizzardCSEU_EN/status/1073338012132671494
As for the ping, depends how high you mean and without seeing any connection information there’s not a lot anyone can say.
Yes still happening now.
Just been playing the game for the last hour and it’s constantly filling my chat up.
Tried deleting the cache folder but still happens.
Have you tried closing the game and the Battlenet app, then reopening them?
Yeah I have. Even restarted my computer but still happening >.<
I’m afraid there really is no way to turn it off, unless it can be disabled through parental controls (which you probably don’t want to enable…). It could be the issues aren’t fully sorted yet (or are reocurring) but this late there are no blues around on the forums
It could also be the problems earlier and this is just a coincidence, especially since you mentioned high ping. Are you using a wired or wireless connection?
Wired connection. Not having any ping problems in other games. Just seems to be on WoW
Are you seeing high ping ingame or is it just delays with low ping? Not having them in other games doesn’t mean much I’m afraid, it could be a routing issue instead of something local.
They have instructions here on how to take some tests to see what the connection is doing https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/7870
Just tried again this morning and it is still happening
Yes this has been happening to me too, I just ignore it
Tried activating parental controls and disabling voice chat. The error still pops up constantly anyway
Also getting this, it’s not really an issue, easy to ignore. Haven’t got it today though when I logged on, so their fix may have been the problem on my end.
Wireless connections using modern routers with 5Ghz band, are considered wireless “wired” standard. My ping (20 usually with wireless) is the same with my wireless and wired, and there is no reduction in quality.
Using wireless, with modern tech today doesn’t mean it’s automatically the problemm especially with more modern new routers today.
I’ve also got problems with this, started during patch day and just wont go away no matter what I do.
Few things I’ve tried so far;
- Have enabled parental control and disabled Voice Chat from there
- Opened new ports that are specific to the Voice Chat
- Disabled Firewall entirely
- Updated software to ensure that my hardware & OS is properly supported
- Changed hardware (microphone) sources
- Ran repair tools for WoW
- Removed addon / WTF folders
… yeah. I am getting mighty tired of it. :’) hleeeep.
If you are still having problems i would say just delete the WowVoiceProxy program in the utils folder in your wow folder. Got to frustrating for me trying to solve it only to reset my game and it spam my chat instantly. I know i wont be using the voice chat anyway
You have to enable it under firewall in windows
that fixed mine.
I am on a mac, so no such things. Everything is updated…why won’t blizzard admit they changed something with the coming of patch 8.1… i am growing mighty tired of the issues that came after the patch…(annoying voice chat disco spam and fps dropping down to stop motion level during raids)…pre patch no issues, after patch nothing but trouble, i can barely raid because the fps drops to a horrible lvl…great work blizz…but by all means keep taking our money and blame our computers…
You!!! I LOVE YOU!!
I’ve done every single thing I could think of in order to get rid of the constant freaking spam but nothing worked.
My “fix” which was to get addons specifically to create chat windows so that I could hide any system messages (because the spam wouldn’t be removed even though you unticked in options), and remove system messages from the screen (and other useful messages that one might actually want to see but no spam > *)
Again, thank you so, so much - this was legit driving me insane.
Let me know if you ever go horde, you just got yourself a pocket healer <3
Is it safe to delete it, and should I delete the wowvoiceproxyt program too ?
