Lost control over char movement (keyboard), any advice appreciated

Dear All, I hope you are well!

This is my first post here, I normally read the forum a lot with great interest but never post - now I’m finding myself in need of a bit of advice. I played WoW a bit in 2008-2009, then stopped and came back in 2023 as an “older” player so a noob by all means and please forgive me if I ask about obvious things.

I mainly do a bit of questing, a bit of herbing and mining, recently started trying delves and love it all but as of (I think) last reset I seem to not be able to control the movement of my char at all when using my keyboard. Whichever movement button I press my character does that and about 10-20 yards extra. Every time, unless I do it literally click by click. It’s ok if I use the mouse for movement but pretty sure Wow is not designed to use the mouse to move plus keys for all else :frowning: I played around with the keyboard settings (character delay etc) but these changed nothing . Interface reset which I did following Youtube did nothing too.

So of the little joys I used to do, even herbing lands me face first in a mob now, I’m scared to go into a Level 1 Delve as I uncontrollably run into everything, and trying to join people with Orta the world boss today was a series of embarassing uncontrollable running into Orta whilst trying to just play.
Whilst I do not aspire to ever do things like raiding or M+, it is so upsetting and frustrating to find that even questing or herbing is a challenge for me now.

Apologies for the long story - if anyone had a similar issue, I would so very much appreciate any advice on how to fix it so that I’m able to do my usual things and enjoy them again.

Thank you in advance for any help - I work during the day so will likely be unable to check in until tomorrow evening/night if anyone asks any follow up question.

I am posting this using a lower level char that I have as I appreciate that a mix of Adventurer/Veteran gear for a level 80 is low and I should git gud but I am where I am so try to avoid upsetting comments on this aspect.

Thanks again for reading and any advice you can spare, have a good night and then day!

  1. Check Sticky Keys setting in Windows.
  2. Try another keyboard, maybe this one is done. I don’t know how keyboards keep dying but I have 3 or 4 of mine in a garbage pile somewhere to prove it. Quality these days is … shall we say, not very good. I’d understand if I spilled something over it accidentally but these days they just stop working all of a sudden. So go borrow another one and see if that is the issue.
