I just logged in and realized that addons are no longer working. I did read about this beforehand, but the information was a bit confusing, so I wasn’t sure what would still function and what wouldn’t. I thought Elvui was supposed to keep working, but it turns out it doesn’t.
This is honestly a nightmare for me - I just can’t play with the default layout. I figured I can’t be the only one, so I wanted to ask if anyone has tips or has already experimented with the new UI situation. Is there anything I can do to make my UI look somewhat similar to Elvui? Are there any addons that still work? Maybe there’s already a thread about this that I missed? (I couldn’t find anything specifically for lost Elvui Users…)
Honestly I don’t want to learn new addons and spend hours tweaking my UI right now - I just wanted to do housing Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated…
It seems Blizzard has already started implementing the Midnight UI, so there is the risk that ElvUI might just be done for good. I am also not particularly thrilled that I have to basically rebuild my entire UI to work around Blizzard’s horrible UX
Nothing in 11.2.7 has prohibited add-ons from accessing the data needed to work. The only thing that happened is someone at bliz labeled the build midnight instead of TWW so add-ons that check what expansion they’re being run in are getting confused.
As soon as either Blizzard or Elvui update it so the addon recognises patch 11.2.7 it’ll work fine again.
Outside of messing around in edit mode for ages? The addon, “Better Blizz Frames” has been working in beta and has some appearance options that can make your player, target, and focus frames more ElvUI-like. Platynator (also working on beta) can do some similar things for the appearance nameplates.
Apparently they “kill” the addons with midnight. So we might be able to keep the addons for a few more weeks but ultimately they will be gone and you were able to see what that means in reality this morning. I am unable to play with the standard UI (hell, I can’t even find the simplest stuff in this horribly messy layout, let alone play in any serious manner lol) so I just decided to refund and quit playing, but thanks for the replies/suggestions guys and good luck with whatever’s ahead.
Where was the warning we’re gonna break all your add ons, make all your UI buttons disappear in to the void and make sure you have to spend half the day of new patch breaking the game so badly you cant play anything
Almost all evui ui is broken, all my action bars gone; you cant even try the housing unless you spend hours on the ui just to make it functional; we wouldnt even need add ons if blizz sorted the ui to be vastly more user friendly instead of broken
Blizz stated categorically that this wasn’t the case until midnight release …
Cool i was finishing grinding my legend wins - now my interface is broken before the addon release and i might miss my goal to achieve this 0.1% feat of strength.
Nothing blizz can do, we choose to play with addons and be dependent, but sucks big time no less. I could live without this ‘content‘ until midnight.
You could get the work in progress version from github an use it.
The chat windows won’t work so they need to be disabled. And the blizz action bars will need to be moved out of view as they are visible in this version in addition to the elvui ones.
Havent tested it. Chances are that the elvui devs will finish this version and release it the next days.
But I am thinking about redoing my interface right now. We will have to anyway.
One of the dev has just announced that they will continue the development for Midnight… So stop crying
We intend to work on patch 12.0 support.
The basics such as anchors, skins, chat, bags and action bars are already patched for the beta.
A final decision how we plan to handle Unitframes and Nameplates has yet to be made, more info closer to pre-patch release.
This is still in early development on beta but ElvUI will continue to exist in Midnight and beyond.
