I created my preservation evoker today, and so far I love it! Its very unique and fun to play. I was planning to main it in dragonflight, but I just can’t get around the way the dracthyr form looks. Its goofy in a weird way, and not being able to wear your armor is a shame.
I would love to see a glyph similar to the one moonkins have. Just let us fight in our visage form, except for the skills that require us to be in dracthyr form.
I know there’s an in-game setting that does something similar, but it doesn’t always work.
Also, a mage tower appearance for our dracthyr form would be awesome!
Anybody else having similar issues?

I have no clue why they didint add Drakonid as a playable race instead, they look far cooler and exist in lore way back, and has been requested by many. Dracthyr on the other hand is just pulled out of blizzards ###

Same here, Preservation is fun but need to fight in Elven Form that it’s playable for me.
Dreamflight/Dreambreath duration could automatically start and end with shapeshift. If not I play Priest instead lol
may i ask have u looked into the background of Draconoids?
they are Experiments that Neferian Created through Playing with Other Dragons Magic Sources.
Given Neferian is Dead. its physically IMPOSSIBLE for more to be bred.
the Twilights hammers Draconoids were created as a Gift From old gods, which again are Dead So impossible for more to be bred.
Draconoids Lore wise. are Dead.
If you are not aware, there are abundant of drakonids on dragon isle, hence not dead. although they look pretty goofy there aswell, and looks better in vanilla.
Wraithon Calls them Drakthyrs tho?..
The both species exist, look for yourself google. Drakonids exist there aswell.
Well yes, but Neferian is also Heavily referenced to have been on the Dragon Islands, which means hes had time to create them. would seem they retconned their death tho.
but drakthyrs have entered into lore after his death pretty much, it’d be weird to have 10,000 New Draknoids spawn after neferians death. also correct me if im wrong, they do also tend to be Melee…
Its even weirder seeing gnome monks.
tbh, i prefer the concept that my character was birthed from infusions of Draconic Magic, then Being born from a Test tube at the hands of a Mad Dragon i murdered.
so retconned or not, i think the backstory of Drakthyrs just offer a Far more Open potiental regarding its Progression.
I mean, undeads are pretty much born from a test tube and that didint stop people from playing them. Undeads are beings with minds twisted and corrupted, created from Sylvanas to do her bidding.
for Undead thats perfectly fine. Because Undead are by default RISEN by use of a Force and Generally are controlled by same force (Necromancy) . that doesnt mean every species have to come from the same thing.
Drakonoids, are a Failed Experiment that are now used as Servants to the 5.
Drakthyrs are Protectors Infused with Draconic Magic.
Drakonoids, by lore can only wield ONE type of Draconic Magic,
while we use atleast 4.
there’d be so much to retcon regarding the race to realistically make this make sense… Undead is a very bad example, they’re a Unliving force risen by necromancy in every Fantasy enviroment realistically.
Drakthyrs arent susposed to be that.
I may be out of line and out of topic, but personally I couldn’t care less about Dracthyr. A total feature flop of expansion, if you ask me.
I will be patiently waiting for Tuskarr to become an allied race…
i dont think its out of line.
tbh, i think any class or race created, will be regarded as a Flop for those who it doesnt appeal to.
I recently made a post about Tuskarr as allied race, yes i whould much rather play as a Tuskarr than a Dracthyr.

It’s kind of the other way around for me. Visage form is what we already had with some colorful extras, but the dracthyr is nice. Felt like a kid playing Spyro on Playstation again.
tbh, drakthyr + Evoker is New Race/Class release yet imho.
That’s the thing, I find the idea of playable dragon race quite appealing. It’s implementation of that idea that kind of disappointed me.
You are mixing Draconids and Dragonmen.
Dragonmen are the things Nefarian created in an attempt to recreate the work of his dad, the Dracthyr.
Draconids aren’t related to Nefarian whatsoever. Their origin is somewhat murky; it was kind of implied that they are ascended Dragonsworn, but that’s ancient lore and we will learn what they actually are in this expansion. (no spoilers)
Drakonid have been described as half-man, half-dragon.) Drakonid are mortals empowered by the dragons they serve, via intentional alteration or via “unintended side effect of hanging out with dragons” The process does not have to be willing. The original drakonid were transformed from [tarasek] a reptilian species native to the [Dragon Isles]. The [Dragon Aspects] uplifted them in the same manner that the [titans] uplifted [proto-dragons]into dragons. In the millennia to follow, new methods with varying degrees of success were devised to create drakonid. While some drakonid are transformed mortals, the species can lay eggs and it is possible to be born as a drakonid.Old drakonid are allowed to retire.
