Low battery on my authenticator

Heya, my physical authenticator is on its last legs and there are no option to change battery. My phone app authenticator is connected to another account of mine. What is the best way to secure this account? Can I order a new physical authenticator?

Physical authenticators haven’t been manufactured for a long time now. Blizzard no longer sell them, or officially support them anymore.

The best you could do would be to look for new-old-stock on ebay or similar, but there’d be no garuntee that the battery of a new one wouldn’t be on its last legs too.

Yeah that is not a reliable option I think. Thanks for response

I’ve done some searching and it’s very unhelpful … all everything says is the authenticator app can only be attached to one account, but not what to do if you have 2 battle.net accounts. I doubt you can download the app twice. I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to your question …

There are several video guides on youtube about how to break open the physical authenticator, and replace the battery.

Apparently its possible, but you can never get them to close up properly afterwards, but they do work. Though some comments say that the authenticator “works, but doesn’t work” because it loses the time sync, so the generated codes are invalid.

YMMV

You could buy a really cheap PAYG phone that you can use the authenticator on and nothing else. You only need to connect once to download it, which you can do via wireless and maybe to resynchronise it.

Keep it in airplane mode and the battery will last quite a long time.

Only solution for me I think is to merge my accounts under 1 b-net account. Will do that and use my phone app authenticator for all accounts. Thanks all for help <3

You will lose all the Bind to Account stuff on the account you move.

It would be really helpful if we could have a Blizzard reply. I certainly wouldn’t merge your accounts yet.
I wonder if it’s worth opening a ticket to ask what can be done to have an authenticator on your 2 battle.net accounts. Blizzard are doing everything to persuade people to use authenticators yet there’s a block on using one in a situation like this …

Last year I bought 3 official physical autenticator from amazon for ÂŁ5 each. Maybe there is still more on there?

I see some on there but it has went up in price.

But why whould you add another old physical authenticator? I mean, you have no idea when the battery will run out? Weird Blizzard does not offer any other solutions than outdated and obsolete products?

Thanks for info, I don’t think I have much stuff on that account so it won’t matter :slightly_smiling_face:

I suggest you turn on the setting where you don’t have to enter the code everytime you log in. I’ve had the same one since launch and it’s still going strong with that setting. I play every day. Should last at least a decade that way.

I have, but it is starting to slow down, I have had it since start so it has lasted a loooong time :slightly_smiling_face: And I want to make a change before I cannot log in any more to remove the authenticator without having to open a ticket.
