Low FPS in-fight

Hi,
i’m struggling with fps drops as soon as combat starts in raids (trash and bosses) or sometimes dungeons.
Out of combat, my FPS stays at the max foreground (set to 144) or around 200-250. As soon as I enter combat, my FPS drops to ~50, sometimes as low as ~30

My specs:
CPU Ryzen 9 5950X
GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080
Board ASUS ROG STRIX X570-F
RAM 64GB (Corsair Vengeance CMH32GX4M2E3200C16)

So far, I’ve tried:

  • Clean reinstall
  • Tests without addons
  • Tests without specific weakauras (tried profiling WAs one-by-one)
  • Tested low graphics settings
  • Different BIOS options (Resizebar, XMP/DOCP, …)

I could not see anything out of the ordinary regarding CPU/GPU load/-temperatures

I’m really out of my depth and would appreciate any help, thanks!

Not much you can do except upgrade you CPU.
The easiest upgrade would be the 5800X3D which fits on your AM4 slot.
This will give you aprox. a 40% FPS increase in WoW.

This is normal since out of combat there is not much to be calculated like all the interactions between the skills, buffs and debuffs.

WoW is only using 1 CPU-thread for combatlog etc. and the singlethread performance of the older Ryzens is not that great, this is why your FPS is so low.
