Low item level rewards from World Quest

Update:

Wq rewards went up from yesterday but still same problem persists:

My druid (one that was leveled first) is now ilvl 161 and is offered ilvl 151-155 items from WQ as rewards. (covenant: night fae, leveled with story)

My freshly dinged shaman is now ilvl 160 and is offerred ilvl 158-164 items from WQ rewards. (covenant: venthyr, leveled with Threads of Fate)

Both same renown. Both done all campaign quests available. Only difference i can think of is, that druid was leveled at launch being max before last reset while shaman dinged to max after last reset. What can be causing this?

same issue, this character was my first 60, and is item level 162, while I only get offered rewards around 148-151.
My later alts get upgrades in the 160-164 range even though they are the same item level or worse.

Got an answer from a GM, like a living breathing one.

To keep World Quests interesting, the ilvl of item rewards will increase based on your own ilvl. You can have multiple World Quests up with different ilvl rewards at the same time.

At this time there are no current known bugs with quest rewards or their items levels from world quests.

If you think this was related to a bug with the game, you will need to use the “Submit Bug” button found in the help menu. Using that feature will take your report right to our Quality Assurance team. Once they receive your information it will help them test for any possible bugs. If a bug is found and confirmed, they will work Development on a fix which would go out in a future patch or hot-fix with the game.

I know this may not be what you ideally wanted to hear, but I do hope that my response was able to shed a little light on how to report possible bugs.

If you need hand with something else, please don’t hesitate to hit us up again. Otherwise, I do hope the rest of your day treats you well.

Bugged item level scaling is just something we have to live with for a while I guess, they’ve been fixing a lot of scaling bugs so hopefully they’ll get to this one soon also.

Will be interesting to see renown 10 with the increase to world quest ilvl, maybe it will give the game a kick in the crotch and scale items correctly.

Does any of you still have crafted gear pieces equipped, the ilevel 151 blue gear?

My friend and I are trying to figure out why different characters get such huge differences in world quest rewards. One of our theories is that crafted gear might not be counted correctly (or at all) for the world quest ilevel. We have several characters with and without this issue, and this is the main difference we can think of.

I disagree that this is solved. I’d rather you remove that, or Blizzard might never think that this is a problem that does exist. My friend got the exact same reply from a GM yesterday, but it doesn’t solve anything. It just tells us that Blizzard doesn’t think there is a problem.

I have crafter gear on both characters i have compared earlier in this thread. One is bugged, one is not. Doesn’t seem to matter.

Difference i have found is, that character that is bugged was dinged to max before 9.12 reset and character that is not bugged was dinged max after that.

What is also notable that in my case character that IS bugged, scaling was working first but ilvl of rewards went down on 9.12 reset and stayed down. I have now noticed another one of my older dinged characters might be affected by this bug but it’s harder to say because i don’t have another character to compare it with.

This is definately not “solved”. I am going to make bug report if wednesdays reset and renown 10 doesn’t magically fix this problem. GM explaining about ilvl scaling rewards when someone makes report of them NOT scaling with ilvl is hardly a solution. But perhaps they ment current solution is “to make bug report so they can investigate”.

I would also like to add, that this problem is more wide than people have noticed but those who do not need wq loot because they have higher level gear from other content don’t notice it. Quick asking around with some of my friends revealed that there was some who also had the ilvl bugged on lower than it should be but just didn’t notice because their gear was so high they ignored wq ilvls. There was for example one person whose gear lvl was over 180 but got lower WQ rewards than my ilvl 160 (not bugged one).

Thanks for the reply about crafted gear. It’s clearly not this simple. I’ve also read that there might be issues with gear withdrawn from guild bank. The search goes on, and hoping for a fix after next reset and next renown level.

Regarding bugged characters before or after 9-12 reset: My main dinged 60 at 26-11 and doesn’t have an issue. I did a dungeon run as part of Kyrian covenant chapter 3 (will come to why I felt this was relevant).

My friend has a level 60 that dinged the same day and who didn’t have the issue at first, but had the ilevel reset to 148 after 9-12 server reset (like you). She ran a normal dungeon a few days later and the wq ilevels went up immediately from 148 to 151/155. She doesn’t have an issue anymore and gets rewards now around her own ilevel.
Another char that dinged 60 later does have the issue, and sadly doing two dungeons didn’t reset anything.

Two other level 60 chars that dinged 60 after the 9-12 server reset have the issue and have never had a reward above 148, despite one having an average ilevel 156 gear now. Those chars never did a dungeon yet. One char has all crafted gear replaced by quest rewards and a legendary now, to check if this helps (no item rewards up now to check though).

This is seriously demotivating for playing those chars. It’s not just world quests rewards, but also callings (ilevel 148 item from the epic reward) and the mission table. Only chance for gear upgrades is dungeons (not a fan right now), world boss and reputation gear.

I don’t think dungeons have anything to do with this bug. I have only done dungeon on one character (mandatory kyrian one) and that character seems bugged. Then the one that is not bugged hasn’t done any and another one that is bugged (i got 2 now and they are my oldest dings) hasn’t done any either. It seems really random.

I will test and see tonight after i lift my renown to 10 (which will raise the levels anyway) and see if the scaling is still bugged for those characters or not. Currently there is no gear wq up for me so can’t see if reset already fixed things.

There is at least one post in US forums complaining about the same bug. I made bug report yesterday as well, so hopefully someone will look up on this swiftly.

This thread is not about general level of wq gear (which will rise with renown 10) but it’s about a bug, that affects some characters, that the ilvl does not go up the way it should.

Renown 10 did not fix this for us. Bug report it is, and hoping for a fix soon.

I gained renown 10 yesterday and today I saw the chance for an lvl 161 trinket as a reward for a worldquest. I hoped that the lvl148-bug would be gone now and finished the quest… BUT instead of the promised lvl161-trinket it was downgraded to lvl 148 and now I got another lvl148 item ^^

So, nothing has changed … its still bugged but now it makes us hope for ilvl161 before crushing us down to 148 :wink:

My Death Knight is fixed too, she is scaling like the rest of my characters now, world quests jumped from 148-151 to 164 over night after I got renown 10.

I also have a follower mission now at 161, the highest ilvl I’ve seen before today from follower missions was 148.

At least I assume this was the reason, I did the campaign quest right before bed last night and got her to renown 10, I also got a new helm bumping the average ilvl from 159.44 to 159.68.

My DK is getting actual upgrades! :stuck_out_tongue: Feels a bit better doing the daily calling on her now.

But sucks that there still are people with Issues. :frowning:

I haven’t tried doing any quests yet, just logged in, that sounds depressing.

I’ll try doing a quest and see what happens.

Edit: Oh god damnit, I didn’t even have to do the quest, jumped on the flight path and on my way there the tooltip changed from 164 to 151.

I’m sorry for sounding like a child now, but… Blizzard developers, you suck at item and level squishing. :frowning:

Edit2: and now it’s back to 164, just landed I’ll tell you what I actually get soon.

Edit3: I’m genuinely surprised, even though the tooltip was freaking out a bit I got a 164 trinket, that was the first item from world quest above ilvl 151.
Oh and my first conduit upgrade!, ilvl 171 from the daily calling bag, while my warlock has gotten like 10+ of them by now.

I didn’t do the quest yet either just saw the tooltip. Will tell if it gives right one or not.

It is still bugged. First time i logged in this is what i was offered:

I did not do quest but logged alts to check if their rewards are also higher. When i now logged back on Radium, i was offered this:

So in 2 hours reward had dropped down again, to the 155. On character that is renown 12 and ilvl 163.

I did the quest and got ilvl 155 item. So not just visual bug.

Can you please now, Blizzard, believe there is a bug? This is making me furious.

I’m glad I’m not the only one this has happening too. I have level 10 renown and I have just done a WQ for, what was shown as lvl 151 shoulders and they downgraded to 148.

Update.

New world quests with items had spawned when i logged Radium (ilvl 163, renown 12) in now. Rewards were ilvl 168. Durnig my flight to bastion reward changed into 155. Reward i got from quest was also 155.

This is unaccetable.

I got the ardenweald rare quest for daily, it showed as 168 when i logged in, did it and was rewarded with a 155 trinket instead of the 168 one I was promised?

even sillier, my alt that I leveled only a few days later to 60 is getting 171 worldquest rewards…

and…after returning the world quest, it’s back to 168 for other rewards when at base…I start flying to a quest to do it and it goes back to 155…this is bugged as hell

Have the same problem. I am now at renown 12, my ilvl equipped is 157. Ever since launch/getting to lvl 60 in november, I have been stuck at ilvl 148 rewards from world quests

Leveled an alt a while after, that char was almost immediately starting to get ilvl 151 rewards, now getting ilvl 161 from world quests

Sure, world quests are not supposed to be the main way to gear your char, but due to health issues, I just dont have the energy and focus to raid or do mythics, but I still love the game (well… used to lol), and just now my hunter is just having no fun.

Was hoping this weeks renown bump would solve the issue, have sent ticket in the past to try get this resolved, but just got a standard automatic response, giving me a link to “known issues in shadowlands”, more or less telling me to try figure this out myself, and ticket was closed

New ticket sent today, response time lower this time atleast, “only” 22days to wait.
