An automated system doesn’t go through and systematically remove posts or edit posts in more than 1 thread… There are forum mods, they just don’t do much usually.

And yet all reports seem completely automated based on the number of people that report the posts. I’ve literally been banned from this board for calling somebody an ‘idiot’, meanwhile every time I report a post that actually breaks the code of conduct in terms of language use, nothing ever happens.
So either the system or automated, or the forums are moderated by the janitor during their off hours.
It’s automated, i appealed to a forum ban which the GM said was an automated ban which he would have lifted if he had seen my appeal sooner.
I did get posts removed and received multi-week bans for especially controversial posts that I really don’t think many people reported. I think the forum actions are like 95% automated, but there is some sort of keyword system where if a post raises too many red flags a real person comes and issues a full 2 month ban.
I once appealed a 2 month forum ban and the GM outright told me “I banned you 11 times before, and I don’t care if you meant it as a joke, the 2 months stays”
These people protect ganking, the niche for arena no skills and worst of BG loosers out there. PvP is not honorable duel thought and these absolute garbages of PvP community are only on ban territory when they repeteatly killing quest givers and other vital NPCs, halting leveling in the zone. As always with gankers, when they meet worthy opponent they run away like chickens they are. Every time in STV rebel camp when they are punished by a mains they are nowhere to bee seen for hour or two.

I once got a one month ban for typing “The new talent trees are Circumflex, asterisk, dollar sign, ampersand” except I used the symbol equivalents not the phonetic versions I typed above.
The ban was for ‘masked obscene language’ .

I got 2 months for quoting the South Park wheel of fortune gag. The slur is literally just in the reader’s head, so of course it’s doubly offensive.

Mine was for posting too many times in a row which was considered spam, nice automation, that’s why i appealed.

Here’s the stupidest ban of my life.
Back in around 2013 I thought I’d give a WotLK PS a try. Found one that suited me, but didn’t stay long as many of the quests didn’t work properly. I was warned in a whisper that one of the chat moderators posing as a GM was a US born-again fundamentalist Christian and any and all rude words would result in an instant chat ban.
And unwittingly I asked for help for a group quest in Hellfire Peninsula.
Instant chat ban for saying the word ‘hell’ in chat. Apparently players weren’t allowed to use the name of the zone - they had to say ‘TBC Starting Zone’ as the moderator considered the word ‘hell’ to be deeply offensive.

I never got banned for anything. I did get some warnings/post deletions on a low level alt I made just for trolling, though.
It’s kinda interesting that forum notifications of rule breaking/abuse are character-specific.

I was banned for that too. I wasn’t even calling them an idiot, but what they posted idiotic.
I don’t think Blizzard look at posts unless they get a certain number of reports, one report is ignored in my opinion. They say different but considering I’ve been reporting someone for 2 years for an obvious naming violation, a very rude C word, and it’s still there speaks volumes.
I have now given up on it.

I expect posts like this in 2004…2023? not so much.
If you are new to the game or not you still clicked/rolled on a server designated as “pvp”, as did the victims of this ganker.
You, me, no one dictates what is legal or honourable in “pvp”, it is quite simply Player vs Player, one player killing another.
