Low performance with good PC or im crazy?

So i built this PC for TWW,but im not sure if this is good performance or i had way too high expectations, since this is curently the best gaming CPU and on top of that WoW loves X3D chips ,maybe i created some fairytales in my head about it.I know asking this question may sound arrogant but im just curious.

MB: B650 Tomahawk

CPUI: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

GPU : Sapphire Nitro+ 7900GRE

RAM: G.Skill 32GB 6000Mhz CL30

SSD: Crucial T500 1TB

PSU : RM750X 750W

MONITOR : AOC CU34G2X

My FPS isnt a “problem” in open world, but in BGs and main city Valdrakken currently playing on 7 graphics and having around 70 FPS,with maxed out graphics on 10 around 60 depends on where im looking epic BGs my fps may drop to 45 like in ashran, isle of conquest, battle for wintergrasp ,alterac valley is fine.

Whats weird is that my cpu utilization doesnt go above 30% and power is around 20w.GPU is arond 90% utilization and temp is around 60c for both while maxed out graphics.

Windows 10 is up to date, gpu driver and chipsets as well. And DX11 gives me better performance than DX12 for some reason.

Welcome to the world of singlethreaded game engines

Not much you can do to improve performance except optimize your addons and weakauras.
Make sure they are up to date and compatible with 11.0.

Oh and just in case you have raytraced shadows on, turn them OFF, now
They kill FPS with many player shadows around since it’s also heavy on the CPU.

What resolution are you playing at?
Is that 90% load when you are having low FPS?
Sounds too high unless you are playing in 4K with RT on.

Have you tried using something like MSI Afterburner or Rivatuner Statistics Server to check what the bottleneck is.

RTSS has sensors for detecting both thermal and voltage limits for GPU and CPU, you may find your GPU is just overheating due to too high voltage or poor airflow.

Also make sure you’ve diisabled V-Sync in game and that FreeSync is correctly configured.

Ye everything is updated.Im not using raytraced because its waste of fps for absolutely nothing and as i mentioned above,im getting more fps with dx11 than dx12.Cant use ray traced shadows with dx11. Resolution is 3440x1440p

They definitely ruined the performance further with the prepatch. I’m always monitoring with RTSS because I’m very sensitive to stuttering, and the game is a micro stutter fest now even though it was already bad before.

Valdrakken is a joke, the game just stutters all the time when dragon riding, during combat out in the world, god forbid you’re doing something massive like researchers under fire etc.

I also have a 7800x3d but with a 4080, and I shudder to think what the experience would be on low end hardware at this point.

Sadly most people with low-end hardware are so used to their 15-30 FPS “experience” that they don’t even notice microstutters.

Although you have to admit that when you are used to 144FPS (138 Reflex capped) you will notice drops much more than from already low FPS.

I am also very sensitive to microstrutter and uneven frametimes.
The worst time was at DF launch until they fixed it with the first major patch.
Months of microstutter hell

What resolution as I’ve noticed no stuttering with a 5900X (set at performance so no cool’n’quiet) and 4080 at 1080 and 1440p resolutions. (Can’t go higher than that, no 4K monitor)

4k 120hz, tho it’s the same at 1440p 144hz since it’s not GPU-related. What refresh rate is your monitor? I see incessant stuttering in Valdrakken and during events, with lower lows than ever before, but now I’m also seeing micro stutter when just flying basically anywhere which was much less prominent before the patch.

Got a old ASUS 1440p monitor with that G-Sync module inside so 144hz or 165hz if overclocked and not had stuttering in that zone so no idea.

1000w Corsair PSU
64gb (4x16) 3200mhz DDR4 ram
X470 Crosshair VIII Hero
Ryzen 9 5900x
Founders Edition RTX4080
Creative AE-7 soundcard
Asus PG279Q monitor so G-sync Premium by today’s standards (cpu inside module)
Running WoW on graphical setting 7 to 8 with only draw distance set to max. Is running DX12 and Windows 10. So unless it’s a Windows 11 issue…

I suppose I could try it with that zone with the G-Sync compatible monitor I have, same 1440p but newer.

I did though disable most of the addons bar from one that enlarges text size.

Honestly don’t know as the 7800x3d should be running this game better than my processor.

It does, a lot

The game engine is just a mess.
Then on top alot of addons and especially weakauras cause even more stutters.

I really want to go for the upgrade and move from AM4 to AM5. I just need AMD to bring out details on the 9800X3D now.

Good thing at 1440p the 5900X is still giving me really good FPS on this game (but do plan on getting 4K monitor at one point so the upgrade will be needed CPU wise at one point)

Increasing resolution is strictly on the GPU, not CPU.
So for 4k you might need a GPU upgrade.

You would still need a better CPU for high fps in raids and world events with many players though.

Well, 4080 so GPU is fine for a while. And I suppose I could just turn on PBO with this 5900X and get sort of close to a X3D cpu… Currently run it with it off at the moment. But it runs WoW fine anyways and other games without much FPS drops so.

No amount of OC can replace the extra cache.
WoW profits very much from it.

See here, it’s almost a 40% difference in performance:

https://www.pcgameshardware.de/World-of-Warcraft-Dragonflight-Spiel-73654/Specials/WoW-Dragonflight-Benchmarks-Anforderungen-1408516/2/

I have the same CPU, and my temps are smashing up to 80-85, compared to 65 ish in DF - no idea whats going on

i5 13th Gen or above will give you better performance running WoW, and you should limit the graphics at 60 FPS, you will see no difference above that

WoW simply isn’t designed to run at the ultra high FPS of many modern games, it has always been optimised for the broadest possible range of hardware - and for that read optimised for lower performance

Biggest upgrade you can usually give your performance is changing your DNS settings on your network to Google - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 rather than your ISP’s default settings

You are trolling.

I do have 7800X3D paired with 4090 RTX. My fps is around 100 (4K resolution) in the TWW main city. I believe the game itself is the issue, not my hardware.

nooo - speaking reality

the human eye is maxed out at 30 fps - how s that 100 fps working for you?
