Low Win Rate & Stuck in a Bracket – Should I Try To Push Through or Swap?

Hello everyone!

After reaching 1.8 rating as a Guardian Druid, I’ve hit an invisible wall, mainly due to the lack of high-rated tanks, which means I often get matched with players in the 0-1600 MMR range. (Almost all tank players are in that bracket right now) So, I decided to switch to my Shaman for DPS role. However, my win rate is significantly lower than it was on my tank. I’m sitting around 1.3 rating after roughly 30 games.

I know, I am not the best Shaman player, so I am not blaming my teammates. My concern is whether it is worth continuing to grind on that character or if I should consider switching to another one.

But with my current low win rate and low CR, I’m worried I might get stuck in this bracket, continually being paired with similarly rated players. This makes me think I might never get the chance to face higher MMR opponents, where I could at least learn how to approach the game from a higher-rated perspective.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

(Edit: I forgot to mention, I am not doing any PVE content anymore it became so predicatable and repetitive, so all I do is 4-5 hours of spamming RBGS, I got people /w saying how could you play 200+ games and etc that is the reason why I have 200+ games)

R.E the invisible wall:

There are 7 tanks above 1900 atm. This is due to an endemic aspect of WoW’s PvP game design, which is that tanks are functionally useless and healers do their job better in every conceivable way, including being significantly harder to kill.

The result of this is you are not playing to carry the game at 1800+. Vengeance can do this in the hands of a rank 1 player on some maps, but other tank specs are playing to be as little of a burden as possible to their team. That’s not me throwing shade at tank players, that is how it is. At around 1900, this regresses to a coin toss, clearly evidenced by the overwhelming lack of higher-rated tanks. If it were not for the fact that you are matched against other tanks, it is unlikely we would see even a single non-duo’d tank player above 1900.

To that end, I would recommend you try several other specs from the list of viable specs in your preferred game mode, (e.g. don’t play Augmentation in Blitz) and find one you enjoy playing. Once you have found a spec you enjoy, you can begin the long process of grinding it out to get better. Unless have been flitting across multiple classes for a long time, it is highly unlikely this will occur in 30 games.

tl;dr give up on tanks, find something you enjoy (even when you’re losing), play it for significantly more than 30 games.

Thank you for your reply.

You are right, though I must say, the majority of tanks just stopped playing the game after reaching 1.8, I was stupid not to stop haha. Becasue even last week I was in 2k+ mmr.

On another hand, I like shaman, and its playstyle, but again, the win-rate, and amount of games is scaring me.

That is why I asked if I should continue or start another one.
