Wouldn’t it be great if Blizzard made a Loyalty Merchant that are selling unique items for tokens. Each month you stay subscribed you will get a token you can use in the shop. This could help to counter all the hate Blizzard is getting for those that want rewards.
Not Wow tokens, something else.
If you had to grind the everloving poo out of those tokens to get them, then sure… I can see Blizz adding something like that.
SWTOR for example give 100 cartel coints per month to everyone, even ftp bois, just for having Authentification attached.
average mount cost there varies from 900 to 3500. as you can see it’s a small perk but it’s a pleasure to be appreciated
at aion since release you get goodies in form of xp/pvp stuff boost items / mounts/wings/ skins every month but i wont see that happen anytime soon at blizzard becuase its not going to give them more money.
Blizz too busy giving inactive people stuff, meanwhile we gotta content with mediocre content.
Am I doing it right?
As someone who bought a few things from the store and two boosts through gold farming i don’t see how getting a free mount every now and then would change how players feel about the shop
I mean the items can already be bought without real money yet they are seen as the worst thing that ever happened to the game, will a free mount every 2~3 months change anything ?
Change it to six months and you have in essence the current promotion.
And subs get 600 a month on top of that. This is cash shop currency not normal game credits so pretty nice way to reward players.
I think OP doesn’t mean giving Battlenet balance or other currency for cash shop but to have vendor (think similar to reputation vendors) that would sell things for some sort of tokens you get for every month you sub. Sort of as subscriber reward you can choose yourself. OP please correct me if i understood you wrong.
I mostly focused on this part of OP’s post :
I though OP ment something along the lines of a “Free shop mount voucher” but i don’t see how it could help with the playerbase perception of the shop.
I don’t think it’s a bad idea, just that it wouldn’t change much on this specific aspect. It appears that the playerbase doesn’t want to farm these mounts in game, they just don’t want to see them in the shop.
Basically SWTOR’s system then?
But without the blatant greed?
I don’t see blatant greed in swtor system though. Comparing that and what we got in wow now, in there subscribers get every month free cash shop currency and here in wow subscribers don’t. If wow would have same system we would get every subbed month some bnet balance for free, as subscription reward.
U get recruit friend loyalty program next patch so that means u just pay for x2 accs every month instead of x1.
I didn’t meant for cash shop, but a different vendor that sells unique items. Each month we will get platinum currency to buy stuff for when we are subscribed. A new loyalty shop. That sells brand new items mount etc…
The greed is that the amount you get is small and that they stuff their shop to the brim with lootboxes and other stuff. With the gear, mounts, weapons etc being way better quality usually than anything you can earn in the game.
If it would be a non-cash shop, only the ‘special currency’ can be used to buy stuff from it; then I’m all for it.
I just mentioned FF14 in a post a couple of minutes ago and reminded me of something.
FF14 introduced (…looking it up…) what they called Veteran Rewards. They’ve changed the system but I believe they capped it at 2 years. You could get costumes, mounts and pets.
It’s not feasible to keep it going and with the length players are subbed all it would do is mean instead of getting that mount from that rare you just get it automatically each month or few months.
Actually Blizz gives free mount + 1 month free time for loyal subscribers every 6 months.
Yeah it’s true there is more things in that shop than on our wow supermarket! But 700 cc per month is not that little, i own pretty big selection of those goods all purchased with sub reward coins. Anyway, i am going on sidetrack here.
I also think sub reward vendor like OP describes would be nice. I don’t think connecting it to the cash shop would be even possible since bnet balance let’s you also buy stuff like other Blizzard games and expansions. Just nice things to get with new special currency rewarded every subbed month.
I’d rather suggest a daily rewards system. Multiple MMO’s use it (GW2*, Lotro**, etc)
It gives everyone rewards depending on how much they play. Not based on how many times they’ve been subbed.
I especially like the GW2 system were you receive different rewards over a month of playing. It will only reset after you have logged in after 30 days (account based).
So you will get the rewards at some point.
Although It would be more likely that they’d go with a Lotro style system. Where everyday you get to open a daily gift that gives a random item. Blizzard love RNG. So something like this would be more likely if they’d introduce daily rewards.

Had similar thoughts about this sort of thing.
I’d like every month you have an active sub to reward you 1 loyalty token, and nothing but a sub can get them. Paying in advance results in being given 1 token per month for the duration. Tokens to be exchangeable for character services (e.g. 1 for a rename/gender swap, 2 for a race change, 3 for a server or faction change), or indeed loyalty mounts.
No ways at all should be implemented to get tokens faster, they cannot be transferred, and you can’t bulk-buy in advance. Use them to say thank you to long-term players and nobody but long-term players gets thanked.
goodjob you are falling for the trap.
in reality they know they dont have much to offer in the next 6 months so they try to fool people in buying all 6 months now so they get the money they whould otherwise loose when those people stop their sub.
