I’ve seen for quite some time that players seek loyalty rewards for being loyal to World of Warcraft in the form of how many months of subscription you have paid for- myself included who have been playing since January 2007. Therefor I would like to suggest a new feature for WoW: Loyalty points.
It’s simple, for every month you pay for a subscription an account earn points. The longer you stay subscribed the more these points accumulate each month; for example first month you get 1000 points, second month you get 1250 points and so on. It’s arguable if WoW tokens should be able to grant these points to prevent abuse, perhaps only if it has a cooldown of X days.
For this feature to have any effect which is the most important part, it must be retro-active: Meaning that months you previously paid subscriptions for before this new feature is launched also count. To prevent a full-out cash-grab shop these points should only be earned from buying a subscription, no microtransactions to increase your points. These points should be Battle, net account-wide and bound to that account, meaning that you obviously shouldn’t be able to gift any of the rewards.
Rewards that you redeem for these points can be argued over what they should be. My personal suggestions are these:
Discount on your next character service: Transfer, realm change, appearance change etc.
Nothing that would have an edge over another player (pay to win).
Something practical or cosmetic: Increased bank space, old armor sets or weapons, toys, or other collectibles. If it’s something which is unobtainable or extremely rare it does not belong there.
All rewards should be Binds when picked up or Binds to Blizzard account, to prevent selling these ingame.
In no way would this be a substitute for adding new things to the game, in fact it should only act as something to the side.
The cost of these rewards should be up to Blizzard to decide, whichever is most balanced.
All in all I think this would be a good idea for players who wants to be showed that they are appreciated.
This is my just my suggestion, what do think? Could it be improved, if so how? Anything helps to make loyalty rewards a reality.
You see that is the problem. If only they had been asking for loyalty rewards for being loyal to World of Warcraft they might have gotten them ages ago.
Your OP wasn’t constructive. It’s a wordy “I’ve subbed for ages and want free stuff” post. If you were having a civilised conversation you’d put some effort into it instead of insulting our collective intelligence.
Propositions should have something in it for both sides. You’re already clearly quite loyal to Blizz, what earthly reason is there from their side to create an obligation for themselves that stretches back 15 years?
I don’t like the idea of being penalised for not knowing a system was going to be added.
If a system like this was to be put into the game then it should start from the day it was put in place and not be retroactive.
Gold if you’re good at making it already buys you in game time or character services. So you could argue that’s already covered? And also you don’t want to disencourage new players from joining by having things not being attainable by all.
