Lunar Festival Thank Yous 🌕

Good evening, everybody! As you are all aware, the Lunar Festival event ran this weekend (the 31st January through to the 2nd February) and has now concluded.

I hope I speak for everyone when I say; the event created a vibrant, thriving hub of RP for everyone regardless of faction, and Moonglade became something truly special in these days.

This event belongs to the server. The community made it happen, quite literally. And therefore, it is my privilege to make you fully aware of every single person who put in their time, creativity, and their coin to make it happen. They made the event for you all. Without them, the Lunar Festival would not have happened this year. Please, thank them fully and completely, as we absolutely do:

First and foremost: Acrona. Acrona is the creator of this event. She has held it for many years and I know the server holds it in a very special place in their hearts. Thank you, Acrona, for giving this event to Argent Dawn, and for trusting us to borrow it this year. We were very humbled by your faith in us. Thank you for your continuous support and advice. Thank you for the mountains of fireworks and flares. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for everything you did that slipped by me. And thank you for a very fine parade dragon!

  • Thank you to the Moonlight Melody. https://www.argentarchives.org/node/233906 Thank you to Erena for being my opposite number and a co-organiser. Without you we would not have been able co co-ordinate the cross faction element of this event. Thank you to your guild for representing the Horde side of Elunite worship during the religious elements of the weekend. Thank you for your patience, thank you for your contributions to the rituals on paper and in game, thank you each and every Melody member who gave their time in those rituals and helped keep the IC peace.

  • Thank you to the Handmaidens of Elune. Thank you to Daleshar and Orithiel, for being co-organisers, for keeping me on my toes, for keeping up with everything administrative I missed. Thank you to all of my guild for being patient and understanding when I have been absent in game because I was up to my ears in photoshop or forum posts or whatever else kept me away. Thank you for your work on the rituals. Thank you for helping shepherd people. Thank you for jumping into whatever job suddenly came up. Thank you.

Thank you for acting as peacekeepers during the weekend, helping to quash potential fights IC, keep the event fun, and take a large weight of stress of the organisers’ hands when people did come to blows. And thank you for the outstanding aerial display and lightshow at the end of the fireworks display. It delighted those watching below and was an amazing effort of planning and co-ordination that brought joy to everyone.

The Talent Show

Thank you to Daleshar and Riraelsun for keeping score and managing admin so that I could waffle. And thank you to every single one of our participants, who shared their beautiful and creative performances with us. Unfortunately the document I had your names is has broken and I cannot access it, I am very sorry, but if you would like me to add your name here, please comment in the replies along with your talent and I shall very gladly do so.

The History Quiz

Thank you to Sahoenna for organising the history quiz. Thank you for the time, dedication and research you put in to create a set of questions that were challenging, engaging, and entertaining. The Tale of Omen

The play I made no contribution to personally, all of the thanks and Tonys go to the below:

  • Thank you to Kori for writing/producing (I hope that is the correct term, I’m trying to be artsy and use filmmaker titles) the Tale of Omen script, for the research and time that went into this. Thank you for being the IC ‘Usher’ welcoming and co-ordinating everyone to their seats. Thank you for your organisational skills and efforts during this production and for anything I am unaware of in the background in terms of props, costumes, rehearsal organisation, etc.

  • Thank you to Solonis for Directing/the part of the Narrator and for anything I am unaware of in the background in terms of props, costumes, rehearsal organisation, etc.

  • Thank you to Johnny Song playing for the part of Omen .

  • Thank you to Toontuh for playing Huln

  • Thank you to Hallida for playing Ursol

  • Thank you to Lyasaenna for playing Malorne

  • Thank you to Moridunum for playing Ursoc

  • Thank you to Gwyddhienne for playing ‘Random Priestess’ (yes, I chuckled at your TRP)

  • Thank you to Meithen for playing the invading Demons

  • Thank you to Cynssia for playing a Sentinel

  • Thank you to Raelysa for playing a Sentinel

  • Thank you to Faelune, for playing a Sentinel

Thank you to all of you for putting together a truly entertaining spectacle. It was the only moment of the festival I was able to just stop and watch and be a part of an activity and it was really beautiful. Thank you for giving me a lovely moment’s rest and calm and enjoyment amongst all the business of the weekend. It is a moment I will personally hold onto very dearly.

The Closing Ritual

Thank you to Orithiel for her assistance in writing the closing ritual and designing the layout of the rite. Thank you to Erena for standing beside me and with me to hold the closing Elunite rite of the weekend as my Shal’dorei opposite number once more. Thank you to the following members of the Handmaidens and Melody who helped took part and followed my panicked RWs/discord yelps to a tee to hopefully create something pretty to watch:

  • Miera
  • Naryu
  • Valdia
  • Eruliesse
  • Juliana
  • Elrinde
  • Corrine
  • Estalar

Fireworks Display

Thank you again to Acrona for the truly staggering amount of rockets and launchers. Thank you to Daleshar for organising the sequence. Thank you to Elrinde and Braniel for running around like headless chickens flinging fireworks into launchers and following what I suspect was a very quickfire sequence of raid warnings from Daleshar haha. And thank you again to the Glaivewings for that absolutely stunning aerial lightshow and formation flight to finish. The chimera doing loop-de-loops at the end was hilarious!

Bar Staff

  • Thank you to Kori for co-ordinating the bar shifts and master drinks list. And an especially big thank you for covering extra the shifts when unexpected circumstances cropped up, making sure the bar was manned and running until very late at night.
  • Thank you to Elti Thistlewire, who also stepped up to the plate when things went awry and pulled extra shifts
  • Thank you to Toontuh, who also stepped up to the plate when things went awry and pulled extra shifts
  • Thank you to Johnny Song, who had to be beaten off practically with a stick to put himself first.
  • Thank you to Juliana and Estalar, who stepped in on the fly so that the poor, overworked bar staff could have a break. I’m sorry I had to cut folks off!

Thank you all of you for pulling together and having one another’s backs. You were all tremendously selfless with your time for what was frankly a terrifyingly huge crowd.

Vendors and Stalls

Thank you to everyone below for giving up your time, your effort, your creativity and your coin to create the Lunar Market people loved so much. I have heard so much feedback about how people loved exploring the various stalls.

  • Maget Edgefang - Ethically sourced Pelts
  • Simmeri - Lunar Plushies
  • Fizzleplug - Flurry of Flavours (Icecream!)
  • Tootuh - Totems and Woodcrafts
  • Jiang - Dumplings and Stew
  • Estalar - Arcwine
  • Skip - Wacky Potions
  • Agyin - Suramar Trinkets
  • Lijardais - Enchantments
  • Thistlewick - The Apple Store (but without being robbed blind)
  • Zuko - Exotic Trinkets from Zandalar
  • Ceraalei - Trinkets and Shinies

Generous Donators

The organisers were blessed not only with people’s time, but also with an immense amount of generosity in coin and goodies to hand out to all of our lucky contest winners. Below I have put a list of all our extremely generous donators, who gave freely without asking anything back. I have not stated exactly how much each individual gave, as every single copper and item was very very appreciated, but if donators would like me to disclose, please let me know. All I will say is that we were truly overwhelmed with the generosity:

  • Solonis
  • Hallida
  • Kori
  • Ceraalei
  • Toontuh
  • Valthira
  • Maget
  • Fizzleplug
  • Lochton
  • Lyasaenna

And finally…

Thank you to the roleplay community of Argent Dawn. Thank you to everyone who came, who participated, who supported, who interacted, who made Moonglade a living, breathing zone.

I have been roleplaying since vanilla, across various servers. I’ve hosted many events. I’ve been to many more.

This is the most vibrant event I have personally been to ever. I actually had a little cry this evening once it was over because I was so overwhelmed by it all, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

This is everyone’s event but mine. Thank you for letting me be part of it…

IF I HAVE MISSED YOUR NAME OR ONE OF YOUR ROLES WITHIN THE EVENT, I AM VERY VERY SORRY. IT HAS BEEN A LONG WEEKEND, I HAVE BEEN TYPING THIS POST FOR THREE HOURS, AND I AM ONLY HUMAN. PLEASE POKE ME ON DISCORD IN A DM IF I NEED TO ADD YOU/MAKE AN AMENDMENT

I’d like to additionally thank the Vulpera in Felwood today - I had a really low image on Vulpera RP before and they raised it heavily! Also made me feel really bad OOC for the conflict… fight hate with kindness seems to actually work!

Very cool people for going with it, though! xx

Big thank you to the organisers as well. Despite any differences and complications, you clearly invested a lot of time and effort into this event, and that’s to be respected!

What made this most enjoyable for me, though, were the people my guild and I interacted with throughout this: Mainly the guys accepting the poisoned apples from my vengeful Druid of the Branch posing as a harmless treant, the troll DK that rolled with the punches as well as the two Nightborne in the forest. Really enjoyable and civil RP.

Lastly, the group of Vulpera with the Nightborne we met in Felwood tonight. I think you’ve perfectly depicted the reaction of a group of Vulpera and the protective circle you formed around the Nightborne was hilarious and amazing at the same time. Thanks a lot and I hope you enjoyed the encounter as much as we did!

I was loathe to have missed Saturday due to work. But I enjoyed the parade. The Lunar Festival has always been one of those yearly events, no matter the host, that can always fill up a zone and make it feel so wonderfully vibrant.

Thank you

It was a delightful event. I’m glad i came along again. Always a wonderful time of year where we can come together. WEIRD Company especially had fun meeting new people (Horde, ew, but this time it was okay :eyes: ) and mingling with everyone but an especially big thank you to the Handmaidens for organizing a spectacular three-day ceremony! Well done! :fireworks:

Ended up seeing a very large gathering of people over Moonglade today while bussing back and forth doing my flower crown quests. Nice to see the spirit of the ceasefire being upheld between the two sides.

I feel a little sheepish about the praise towards myself given I did not contribute to this year’s event at all as much as so many others! Thank you and everyone else for organising the Lunar Festival this year. The group effort demonstrated was wonderful to behold, and it was definitely a spectacle!

Organising a big event involving so many people – not to mention crossfaction – can be daunting and exhausting. Kudos to Niámh and others for having the courage to do this, and everyone who contributed to the event by helping with the various activities, stalls and more!

It was fantastic to be a part of all of this, I know not everything ran smoothly, but considering the scope of the event and how many people were present it’s a blessing we managed to keep events mostly on time. A big personal thanks to Niamh who spent all weekend running up and down all over the place trying to keep everything running smoothly. It may not always seem like it but organisers have a lot on their plates and I commend anyone who can pull off a server event like that.

Based + Elunepilled event, I hope the daunting nature of everything hasn’t put you off hosting anything else in the future.

My turn to say thank you!

This Lunar Festival was the first one I attended and I had a blast! So I’m really looking forward to the next one!

Since I’m bad with names I’ll do it like this:
Thank you all night elves I interacted with and those around me! Always fun to get weird looks and annoyed grunts! xD
Thank you dwarves for being the hilarious squad of loud that I love! And making my character nervous. xD

Biggest thank you goes to you folks who hosted this! I think you did an awesome job! I know the pain of large events, so I can vaguely imagine how it is to host a server-wide neutral event. xD

Great event! Great Elves! (Nightborne ofc. ;p) Great RP!

i really enjoyed selling the suramar trinkets and interacting with both horde and alliance…in all honesty a part from the bit in feralas this is the worst time i did a cross faction RP with the ability to speak with alliance and enjoyed it very much. and Thanks to the Keeper we protected to valuing Nightborne Imput.

A massive thank you to everyone who attended, help with the planning and overall dedication to everyone at the event.

It was truly a wonderful weekend, and many laughs were had. Not to mention at the end of escorting the small group of Horde to Ashenvale safely! That was a lot of fun!

Thank you for this great event! Some IC disturbances aside, I think that everything was splendid!

It was a pleasure to offer my wares to the good people at the event, even though my time was fairly limited! Thanks for all the great RP! I really hope to repeat that in the future.

I was going to post this on the general Lunar Festival thread, but upon noticing this thread, I think it belongs here instead.

I attended all three nights on Teejo, who is so far removed from faction tension as one can possibly be, so I did not have the same expectations for nor I did not notice much of this faction conflict except for a very subtle atmosphere here and there, through things overheard and briefly witnessed. It was still very nice to see, even with an outsider’s perspective.

That was until Teejo and his party left after the festival to go to Ashenvale through Felwood when they were confronted by hostile night elves of the Hand of Cenarius and their allies! It was very surprising, but the incident itself and the RP that followed was really fun and I want to thank the Hand & Co. for initiating it, I really enjoyed it.

…And I am glad you enjoyed it too!

That said, I enjoyed the event so much overall. January has been a rotten time for me, and this event really helped me feel better. Thank you to everyone whom I encountered and got to RP with and thanks again to the organizers for bringing the opportunity!

It also turned out to be such a great and enriching start to Teejo’s adventure that I decided to write a short, little story (containing a few shout-outs!):

In between the ground and the enveloping canopies, that seemed to turn the space above into a ceiling of leaves, howling projectiles bursted into a cloud of a thousand colors. Below on the clearing sat a crowd equally diverse in colors and shapes, most of its heads directed at the fireworks on display, the grand finale of this year’s Lunar Festival.

And in that big crowd sat a little vulpera named Teejo. His magnificent wizard hat was off so he could watch the show clearly and with the hat he seemed to have put down all of his ambitions, schemes and plans for just a little while. He sat surrounded in this little moment by new friendly faces he had encountered during the festival. Among them was Vera, a fellow Vulpera and a trainee of those strange Pandaren arts; Tucker, to Teejo’s observation a boisterous and headstrong Worgen, with Kirah sitting next to him; Zeruda, the Nightborne sorceress, whose artistic spellcraft had prompted the aspiring Vulpera wizard to make a note for future contact. Others like his two colleagues Waldfrey the Gilnean, and Lateef the Dunemancer were probably not far away either, and the congregation representing his first contact with the Tauren species sat close by, towering among the many elves and other folks. Could it be possible that he could open up these feelings of fellowship to any of them? Of course not! After all, they all expected him to be a collected and professional wizard and he could never disappoint in that.

The group sat with their smalltalk as they collectively spectated the fireworks, and Teejo enjoyed the moment. As the brilliant lights sparked in his eyes, he fondly remembered that this was just the start of his adventure. In just a few days he had absorbed so much from the greater world and he had barely taken his first steps off of Zandalari soil. His quest had just begun and it was introduced with a spectacle of fireworks.

While these thoughts were running in his head, he had up until now absently taken part in the group’s chat, about where their roads would go now. Vera, who seemed to be reading his mind, asked him:

Where will you go, Teejo?

Where? When? How and why? What does it matter? Teejo just smiled and answered with complete satisfaction:

I have absolutely no idea.

As a solo roleplayer I have nothing but a huge round of applause and much gratitude to the organizers.

Its not easy for a solo rp’r to have a lot of fun around the RP world just because you are solo. So you just need to get into something while you are online and try to make the most of it. These things make it so much awesome. So again thank you.

I manage to get into a bit of a ‘bickering’ with a worgen. Just being grumpy at each other but at the same time exchanging stories and experiences. I hope I didnt go too far in that and hope was enjoyable to that person too. Because that sort is not very often you get to RP out and had a good fun with it ^^.

I managed to calm down a human woman as well. She was sad of losing her friends :frowning: and I was glad to see her much better on the Saturday ^^

Also thanks for the Draenei who sold plushies. I got this really big a## dragon the very first day that I had trouble carrying
