Lvl 80-90 require an XP buff

Levelling from 1 to 80 is fun, smooth and diverse. If you are stuck or bored, you can always go elsewhere because there are at least 5 appropriate zones at all times you can choose from.

Once you hit lvl 80, your only way is Hyjal (noone does Vashj’ir for obvious reasons), followed by Deepholme or Uldum. It is very boring to go down the same road over and over again, but to make things worse, we just spent over a year in these zones and are sick and tired of them.

At lvl 85 the problems remain, but new ones arise. The amount of XP needed to level up is now humongous. Heirlooms XP boost stops working. Mobs have large amounts of HP relative to how fast they were dying before 85, it feels like you are becoming weaker. It feels slow and tedious. But it is made 3x worse by the fact that you just did the exact same long grind in the same order in the same zones on 1 or 2 characters this month.

Please introduce some experience buff post lvl 80 so that levelling alts does not feel like torture

I levelled in the underwater paradise along with dungeons, but I got heirlooms and yes it is far too slow.

well 80-85 was already buffed in mop (by reducing xp needed by like 33%)

Its still way too long. I shouldn’t need to be doing 200+ quests per lvlnear the end of the grind, and thats with rested xp too. The last couple of lvls are taking 5-6 hours, which is quite tedious.

Make monkey/mogu runs untill lvl 88, then full steppes and dread wastes quests, giving you friendly with Shado-pan and Klaxxi honored rep in process allowing for faster 489 ilvl gear purchases. The rest can be substituted by 476 MSV LFR like gear from celestial heroic dungeons.

You need to touch grass if you think that a normal person would enjoy spamming 2 dungeons 100 times. The very fact that you seriously suggest this is hilarious

Bro if you did the quests once or twice you will thank the lord for monkey runs, quests are way more repetitive, slower and very RNG sometimes.

Monkey runs all the way. Leveled all my rogues and DK like this.

I agree, I would love to make some alts but when I remember the 80-90 (85-90) grind especially I wont.
Maybe some buff for alts if You already have 90 characteR?

85-90 only takes a couple of hours…it’s not that bad. 80-85 is fast too, i did 80-82 in about 2 n half hour casually questing + dungeon

I did 80-85 on mage alt last night. I barely touched the quests in the zones as I kept leveling so quickly.

Had heirlooms and rested XP to max tho.

Il probably log off it now til I get max rested again. It’s not too bad leveling on it

This is just blatantly false. You need dozens of hours to go from 85 to 90 unless you do some degenerate stuff like boosting or mob grinding in a special spot.

Also you missed the point. The biggest problem is not speed but boredom. In Cata and especially MoP there are too few zones and you have no alternatives, so basically you are forced to do the same route of content as you just did on your other character(s), which is not fun

It’s not false, mabey you just not good at knowing what to do

Level 85 → 90 requires 97.5 million XP. A normal player doing regular intended activities will not do it in 20 hours, let alone 2. At least research before saying something as preposterous as “a couple hours”

Just did 85-90 on one of my alts. Honestly, it wasn’t that bad as some people make it out to be.

I did the good old questing and dungeon route all the way. I finished 85-88 in a 6 hour sitting, fully rested. Then I played my main for a couple of days, waiting for the rested to go back up again. Then I finished 88-90 about a week later, about 2-3 hours per level. So without tryharding it in any way, shape or form, it was all done in roughly 10-12 hours. Flying, emptier zones and rested really helps a ton, felt way faster than the first time around at launch.

Yea Rested XP is the way to go, with all the killing it brings down the time per level.

Wait i think its like 10 days or something for full 1.5 levels of rested, then off you go questing!

Guys please just read what the original post is saying. The speed is not the biggest issue, the repetitiveness is. I do not want to redo the same exact quests and plot for the third time in 2 months. Boredom and sameness is what makes it bad. I am only asking for an XP buff to make the chore of levelling shorter

Wanting an xp reduction kinda implies it’s a speed issue, no? I mean, the repetitiveness in leveling alts has been the same for every expansion, MoP doesn’t differ in that regard. So what do you propose?

I did 85-90 in 5hours

Make heirlooms 1-90 or add JJ buff. Why wouldn’t they make reaching max level easier? It’s a win-win change.

You will get new (pre Chromie time) leveling system in Legion Classic (that will happen by current rate). Mobs will always be of your level, so you can finish all quests in a zone without them turning green and trivial, but on the other hand you will be able to choose any zone you like regardless what lvl it previously required with following restrictions.

  • lvl 1-20 leveling as usual
  • lvl 21-60 pick any zones except starting and next zone to it (like Elwynn forest and west fall) so you can go to Ungoro to level your 21-30 there if you like to.
  • lvl 61-80 any zone of TBC and Wrath. You can start leveling in ICC and finish in Zangarmarsh if you desire to.
  • 81-90 Cataclysm and Pandaria. Most prefered MoP due treasures that could substitute over 33% of exp needed to exit this bracket.
  • 90-100 WoD. People just grabbed exp potion from garrison starting quest chain and under 300% exp looted all treasures they could reach withing that hour long buff. That was the fastest part of all above-mentioned.
  • 100-110 Broken Isles of Legion expansion

I dropped retail WoW at the start of BfA so missed the point when Blizz added Chromie time slightly limiting Legion leveling model. It brought more consistency for new players who couldn’t comprihend why they started with Sylvanas as their wsrchief, then they had Garrosh, but after a few levels Garrosh became younger and a general in Northrend and Thrall commanded him, somewhere in the leveling they had Voljin, then Sylvanas again. This greatly confused those not knowing how their mixed leveling threw them around 12 years of lore in a span of a few weeks. Chromie time sorted it all out by locking older expansions away from fresh players so the only knew story of previous expansion and actual one when leveling first character. Unlocking other expansions was only for alts leveling.

However at some stage (probably in Shadowlands, during during mass fall off in suscription numbers) Blizzard took exp bonus off Heirloom gear and instead started giving promotional leveling, usually at the end on season/expansion.

Take DF>TWW as the example with MoP Remix. The ultimate goal was to get to 70 and unlock most of MoP collectibles, but after leveling your first 70 there were methods to have fresh 70 alt in around 2,5-3 hours. Then there was also TWW prepatch that popularised dragon riding for thouse who missed DF and introduced warband system. Residual memories could get you a lvl 70 in around 9 hours.

Around end of autumn of current year we are getting Legion Remix event. If it would be as dynamic as MoP Remix was you would be able to raise an army of alts for Midnight if you are interested in Retail.

As for MoP Classic the only hope you have is that Blizzard would give JJ buff back once patch 5.6 (phase 2) drops. However if speed in not the problem you can try alternative leveling like pet battles, archeology and herb/ore gathering if you hate repetitive quests so much ;D
