Thats pretty much a non announcement.

It’s on their radar and they feel the onus is on the group to manage itself or its on their radar and a system will soon be in place that punishes someone that bails on a run after 3 hours because they lost the will to live?

It tells us nothing except that they are aware its on the communities mind, and to be honest you’d have to be living under a rock not to know that.

What they’ve said they’re going to do is pretty much what I say about the dishes in my sink that I am never going to do anything about.

I don’t think they know how to deal with it atm.

It’s hard to determine if leaving is malicious, or if someone is sabotaging unless they say something in chat, like that infamous screenshot we keep seeing.

There are legitimate reasons to abandon keys, so I’m not surprised they have nothing to announce any time soon.

The only solution I can think of is adding a “surrender vote” option instead, and giving some sort of penalty if you leave on your own accord without a majority vote. (a debuff similar to deserter?)

So if we’re 3-4 premades we can force a person to stay in a doomed run and they just have to suffer or be penalized…

You rang?

People will just go “afk” to dodge the system if leaving first punishes them.

The interesting thing is that the opening posts talks about a reward, positive score but that still is a pain IMO for anyone that plays with friends. Usually friend are excluded.

The same issue exists in Overwatch. I am penalised for playing with friends because we can’t endorse each other. They are finally addressing the decay issue that playing with friend makes your rating drop because you can’t get endorsements. But we’ll see how that works out.

Even in games that have a surrender vote you get situations where people will hold out against surrender. It will work for groups of friends but not so well for pugs.

I agree, especially if it’s something like the timer must expire before you can leave without penalty etc.

I’d report for griefing someone who AFKs in M+, then it’s up to Blizzard to see if they punish them properly.

Hence why I put afk in quotation marks. Good luck proving they didnt play properly at that time (given how far one can stretch the term). They wont kick, they wont stun, their dps/hps may drop etc. Stand in more stuff. Nothing you can really judge as griefing.

And as far as the report system goes: Its already broken anyway. Enough reports and you get auto banned.

I mean if the penalty is 30 minutes of no M+ then they don’t gain much from running around for 30 minutes doing nothing.

They will still do it. Just like people did in random dungeons in the past.

Some sort of a AI arbiter which will monitor behavior of each player in every run.

It really isn’t something simple to resolve.

The point is to dissuade people from leaving. No system can force someone to do something they don’t want to, but it should prevent people from leaving willy-nilly.

People that think the key is lost will do it regardless. Even with a 30min timer. “Rather be forced to afk for 30min then wipe 30min and not time it anyway”

Also at some points a key really is “donezo”. So who decides when its appropriate to leave? Someone who enters a key with the intention of timing it while the key is impossible to time should be free to leave. The only point where I agree that flat out leaving is dumb beyond believe is during weekly no leaver keys.

You can avoid most leavers by simply stating in the title you’ll probably not time the key.

Yes but with the current system there are people who ragequit after one death, or right before the last boss because it’s going to be over time by 30 seconds.

I agree, you see plenty of ‘weeklies’ or ‘helping a friend’ listed so people know what to expect.
