M+ needs a modern automated signup system

Currently some people are listing up in the dungeon finder for many hours without a single invite. The system could use improvement and seems to be outdated.

The idea:
People who list their own keys still pick who they want. This remains unchanged.

Make an automated system for people who are looking for keys.
A system that lets you select " Which keys and the level you wish to join.

  1. Make a small menu that lets u select the key level u want and the dungeons you need. Then let it auto-sign to those dungeons everytime there’s one up.

  2. Make a battlenet app notification for when you got accepted into a dungeon.

This is a very modern idea, and i think it fits its current time. Some might laugh at this but some people are literally sitting in quee 6 or more hours a day without getting invited. So this would be a huge QOL. So people can do other things while waiting.

No.

It’s too many DPS applying to keys even now.

It’s going to be borderline unusable due to how flooded it’s going to be.

I am all in for such system, although I am not using it ever as tank. I am fairly certain that most of competent tanks and healers won’t use it as well.

Therefore, it will be very long queue waiting for minority roles to fill in. But, I support your idea.

Someone would end up writing an addon that filters out people who insta applied.

It would achieve what?

Nothing.

Then aim lower and for less popular dungeons…(e.g. not Ara Kara, something wih a trinket…). Even non-Meta DPS specs can get invited to 6-9 keys.

How would the automated queue system create more tanks and healers out of thin air to fill up the extra groups of dps players queueing up?

-=EDIT=-
The solutions have been proposed multiple times. The easiest one to implement from a technical point of view is to change the basic group composition from 1-1-3 to 1-1-4 or even to 1-1-5

M+ needs companions mode.

And because of the first point, this would change absolutely nothing, unless your idea for the Pug-M+ Finder generates keys out of thin air. Becaseu the person providing the key is still the one choosing who to take and who not to take.

However, at that same point the entire purpose of even having a key in the first place is invalidated if you can just random-queue for whatever level and dungeon you want and the system will just magically create the key.

I would go full on brewmaster if people were not so incredibly toxic to tanks without 120% knowledge about everything.

They don’t. Toxicity in M+ happens once every blue moon and even less in 8+ keys. You sometimes get a bad group, but then people simply leave without saying a word.

Disagree.

(A) I got enough Apps in my life. I even need one to make my toaster work.

(B) How would this decrease wait time ? Here are the problems I see:

First. The problem you stated is “listing the dungeon finder for hours”. WHY ? Lack of healers and tanks.

So unless your “automated system” spawns tanks and healers from thin air it wont work.

Second. You totally ignore the point of view of the person that posts his key. What would he see ? A list of 10000 people in the automated list that want to join a key ?

The issue I see is that if you personally are not getting invited its for a reason. A stupid reason but a reason none the less. It could be: Other candidates have more Rio than you. You play a very popular class, ect…

If you propose a list of 10000 people to the key-holder, he will have even MORE candidates that are better than you. So you will wait even longer than what you wait now.

Therefore: This idea is bad. NO.

Most people dont say a word, because certain people enjoy to report others for fake reasons and the fantastic bot system can silence/ban them.

That is very true

I feel like a system like this would allow people to just chill while waiting for a dungeon, instead of sitting behind my pc for 12 hours waiting until i get into 1 dungeon. It’s boring

That is actually reason why I am for this solution. I feel it would not help with anything re queue time, but at least players could do something in the meantime.

I think it would worth a try. Like solo que and battle blitz.

People can judge if its bad or good. Blizz will see from data how its working.

If its bad and has no future, can be removed any time.

And what do we see there?

Solo queue: toxicity, making healers to not be bothered in doing it → longer queues
Blitz: requesting proper balanced groups and more in line with MMRs. Result: much longer queues.

Now think about M+.

You need 1 tank, 1 healer, 3 dps. You prob want a BR, TW/BL/Heroism, and a decent amount of interrupts (thus melee/shaman and ranged). Then you spread this over (let’s say) 10 levels (beyond this point, I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect this to work at all anyways).

We know from stats that the majority of the players do not get past 7s. So +7s are most likely going to be brutally difficult in this system.

So then this system would be for the +2-+5 ranges? Not once have I had difficulties in getting into those groups or making groups myself for that content.

This system is going to be built for content that these people don’t even want to do. This while completely revamping the key system, adding punishments for leavers, etc, etc.

It’s not as simple and it remains a horrendous idea for this content.

  • Remove M+ keys. They are unnecessary. Players shall be able to do any dungeons at any level that are unlocked. Keys only artificially limit player’s choice of dungeons and levels they can or want to do.
  • M+ shall work like Torghast or Delves. Players unlock a dungeon’s M+ tier level by level. (You can only have access to +3 when you have completed +2 in time, etc.)
  • Add LFD for M+. Players can only queue a dungeon +N if he has completed this dungeon on +(N-1) and meet the recommended item level.
